Why? It would be way easier to just use small block mounts & be done. The only drawback would be that you would have to use headers...

Not sure. I had an 84 with a small block & the 69 with a 396 & have had both motors in both trucks with no problems. I was later told that if I wouldnt have been running headers on them it wouldnt have been so easy. Sorry, cant answer the measurement question though...
