1975 radiator hose?

Did my 75 C10 come with any kind of upper radiator hose support?
This truck has a 350 two barrel carb and the upper radiator hose fitting solder joint cracks and seeps coolant.

Re: 1975 radiator hose?

I don't remember seeing one with any kind of factory support. Is it a flex-hose? If so, junk it. They put too much sideways loading on the nipple, and it'll crack like that. Same thing if it's an incorrect smooth hose that's pulled tight. That solder joint is not meant to take a lot of strain. Might try re-soldering the nipple, if you're handy with a propane torch. You also might be able to fabricate something that bolts or rivets to the fan shroud, but if the nipple's soldered well and the hose is right, it shouldn't be necessary.

The only support it possibly had would be a "band" attached to the shroud. My fathers 75 didn't have any and his was bought original.

Re: 1975 radiator hose?

Thanks for the reply Jimfulco and Captkaos
I did not remember removing a strap but wanted to check with you guys.

The current upper radiator hose is a Dayco #70935 that is shaped just like the factory hose.
This hose rests on the fan shroud taking a little stress of the radiator neck.

I plan to remove, clean and resolder the hose fitting and se if this will fix the cracking solder problem.

Guess I am lucky the original radiator has not fallen completely apart.
