Door and vent glass install question?

I am in the process of completely rebuilding the doors on my 66 including replacing all the felt and rubber in the doors, window regulators, and tinting the glass while I am at it, and had a question about the glass tape used to install the glass. Does anyone no the proper way to do that? I talked to a tech guy at classic parts, but he did not act real sure of his answer, and he told me you just put the tape on and put them in the channel's. I thought there was a glue or lubricant used to assist in the install. It seems to me if you do not use something it would tear the tape or the glass may fall out? Any help would really be appreciated. Larry

I have a 63 shop manual that does a good job of explanning the entire process. I bet the 66 manual would too. Great book to have around.

Try doing a search, there is a thread some where with a link to a very good how to on an early 50's chevy, was pretty helpful when I did mine.

I did a search, and I read brake fluid, Windex, silicon, hammer, and a half a dozen other things. so I am still pretty much in the dark as to the right way.

I did not use any of advise given in the search, because I never found a clear answer. And no one here wanted to give any advise other then buy a book, do a search, Like I said, everthing from brake fluid to windex, or beat it in with a hammer was what I found in the search. I just used a soap and water on the glass and tape . I put the tape in the channel with soap and water on it, then I put the door glass in at one corner of the channel, then slid it through the channel with down pressure. I hope that helps you.
