Hey gang,
Just thought I'd fill you all in on our trip to Richmond at the begining of Sept. We have a 67 C-30 motorhome and were heading to Richmond for the race and camping for the week. Truck had given us some minor problems on the way there, thought it may be getting time for a timing chain. It had been losing some power and running warmer than normal on hills, but I figured I could make it there. Figured I could change it during the week if need be. Well, about 45 miles north of Richmond the engine blew. I called a friend and had him bring me my engine crane and a spare engine I had in the garage and we changed on a KFC parking lot after they closed. We were done and picking up tools by 6 a.m. and nobody was any the wiser. I wish we had gotten some pictures of the whole thing, but we were pretty much working in the dark and forgot until we were finished. Quite an adventure and one to remember for a lifetime.

Almost sounds like fodder for a Jeff Foxworthy joke:
You might be a redneck if..............

.....you've ever blown your engine on the way to a NASCAR race and swapped out a motor in a KFC parking lot. LOL

My hat's off to ya! I wouldn't have been able to tackle a job like that.Glad you got it running in time to make the race.

Thats great.... It sounds like you were close to were I live...I could have helped you out. Was it hard to do in the dark?

BTW...make sure you don't forget that friend of yours at Christmas time!!!!!

It was the KFC at exit 143 if I remember correctly, I know it was south of Fredericksburg.

Wow, that's not the cab-chassis style motorhome I was picturing. That's a whole different animal. Seen very few of those on the board here, pretty uncommon, and awesome too!

We had some parking lot lights and I had a folding LED flashlight but it was a bit tough in the dark. One hell of an adventure. Friends help you swap a motor, but good friends bring you a motor 150 miles and help you swap it. I am eternally indebted to my buddy Adam. My own brother didn't want to be bothered helping me out.

This little Chevy attracts more attention than megabuck Class A motorhomes. It is a blast to see the reactions when we go camping. We also get some great reactions out on the highway.

Exit 143 is North Stafford. 17 miles north of Fredericksburg...

Sorry for the bad luck. Should have given us a call. We are almost always their for the races. You can recognize us. We are the ones picking up aluminum cans.
