Pictures of my now clean motor

Here are some pictures of my motor all cleaned up in my 68 c-10. It is a 307 and I just got done installing a eld. 600, eld. performer manifold, 93 s-10 serp. setup, points eliminator and a new timing chain. I will snap some more pictures of the finshed product as these are in process pictures.

Looks great! Where did you get the clear section for the radiator hose.

No thanks! I used engine degreaser and took of what I could and blasted it in the cabnet.

And just so you can share in my stressfull evening, I was up all last night trying to get it to run! I had good luck with that after I gave the petronix a full 12 volts. I had it going to the coil and it would start then die. Upon reading the instructions I read the part that if you vehicle had a balast resitor or resistor wire (that is what our trucks have) it must have 12v from the ignition. After I did that it ran nice but the right side Ims screw does not change how it runs and it has a surge issue going down the road. It also has a little vibe at idle, what do you guys have your idle set at? I am sure I will get these last items fixed but if anyone had any ideas I would be glad to hear them.

You should add a bigger air cleaner so the engine can breath properly. Looks good

I used polished aluminum electrical conduit for my '82 Z28 and my brother's
'78 GMC. I love the look of it!

what is M/T mean? its on your valve covers

Thanks for all of the kind remarks! I will get some finshed pictures tomorrow and post them up. I have been driving the truck a little and so far have been very happy how the engine came out. The M/T stands for Mickey Thompson
as for as I know. I wanted finned covers and my friend gave them to me for free!

HEY 68c-10, IT LOOKS GREAT. GET YOU SOME ALUMINUM BRIGHTNER AND USE RUBBER GLOVES. TAKE A SPONGE AND DAB IT ON THE ALTERNATOR TO BRIGHTEN IT UP!

The cost broke down like so

Brakets, pullys, power steering pump, ac compressor and alt - $50.00

A/c delete or bypass pulley - $31.00

New power steering hose for a 1968 chevy - $16.00

Stainless 90 for the power steering hose to not hit the block - free

Wiring kit to convert to the new alternator - $20.00

Water pump for 93 s-10 with a 4.3 - $17.00

Total $134.00 not including one idle pully I replaced do to me not recalling the cost.

It was as easy as bolting on the brackets and connecting some plugs. I had to leave out one bolt on the pass side due to my head not having the bolt hole required. This is near the intake and there is a brace that goes from that side to a water pump bolt so I think it will be fine. The power steering was simple due to the fact that I switched fittings on the pump. The stock pump is double flare and the new one is o-ring so I simply unscrewed the fitting out of the old pump and put in the new one no problems. The replacement hose I got came with a brass adapter which would have put the hose into my block due to the pump being tucked in tighter. To get around that I had my freind bend up a short 90 with the correct fittings and hooked it up. I am very happy with it and love that I can crank the steering wheel and not hear the chirp of the belt!

Thats a nice set up and the work you did and thought of i have never seen done down here on any big old truck so great job man.


hey 67_C_30 is me or is that a set of dirt track valve covers from smiley's the blk ones
