Opinions needed

I found this 1972 GMC Sierra and i was wondering if it was worth the 275.00 that the guy is asking i have spent the last 8 months or more building my 78 chevy just to be slapped with title issues. I have always wanted one of these trucks but could never find it any how here are some pics please let me know what you think ruted areas are surface rusted only and are still good.

Re: Opinions needed

Hard to tell from the pictures. Looks like a fairly well optioned truck.

I see lots of Christmas decorations.

I see a lot of surface rust. The cab might be OK yet. Looks like a good parts truck for the money.

Re: Opinions needed

From the pics looks like surface rust check the cab corners, cab supports, and frame and floor out. If it runs great deal. Well you can always steal your power plant from the 78 no title problems with that.

Re: Opinions needed

IT's hard to tell from the pics but it really doesn't look that bad. I see surface rust but if it doesn't have any holes thats great. the cab looks like it may be in fairly good shape. If that's a tilt column it is worth about the asking price of the whole truck! It's hard to tell by the pictures but If it is as solid as it looks it's worth it and if it's not as solid as it looks it's worth it for parts. If the column is a tilt column it's worth asking price just for the column. SO i guess what i'm saying is I would buy it.

Re: Opinions needed

From looking in the background you might have a couple of different trucks to choose from...But I bet they don't have that VERY rare option of blue Christmas balls...

I bought my 68 chevy step off ebay for $242.

It also had a bit of surface rust but not nearly as pronounced, there might be some serious pitting going on under those brown spots. Of course check out the cab corners and rockers but something I didn't expect was inside the cab above the windshield...thats where my worst rust was.

Go for it its not a MAJOR investment (yet)

Re: Opinions needed

I'd be scared of the rust spots above the A pillars on the drip rail. They could indicate major rust issues.

If the Christmas balls are included it's a no brainer!

Re: Opinions needed

ok i can honestly say that the hood is the only parts that are pitted and the bottom of the tailga and that is all that is pitted i looked and the floor pans and they are 2wice as good as mine in the 78 verry little rust and no holes thats a plus and the worse part of the rust issues is the driprail on drivers side i dont think watter is getting in the truck but is most crtainly rusting out there on the rail so far and not the cab. xshadow im not sure if it is a tilt if not will my tilt and telle out of my 78 work?? KSJH1316 that is the first thing i check on anytruck and they are good not even surface rusted. Someone said i had alot to choose from and they are right there is alot and they are all for sale for 200-275.00but this is the truck i have always wanted i cant have my 78 IROC so i think imma have my 72 GM.

No xmas balls aint inluded at this time lol

Re: Opinions needed

i dont know, it obviouisly has been sitting quite sometime, and tall grass like that will rot a truck in nothing flat....it holds moisture, belive me, im from canada, i know what makes a truck rust. lol

if you could drag it onto some pavement and have a good look at the frame, that could be the deal breaker...who knows....solid parts truck for options though.

I've got dibs on the christmas balls.

Re: Opinions needed

Its def worth $275. It looks like an AC cab, judging from the center vent hole above the radio. Its also a disc brake truck which makes it worth more. You can't go wrong with that truck at that price!

Also looks like an original aluminum finish rear sliding window. The new ones are black. It also has the optional rear cargo light!

Re: Opinions needed

Dun made up my mind ill have it home ither tomorrow or friday staurday at the latest dads just gonna have to wait on the 68 elcamino

Almost forgot the truck has only been here about 6months but it has been out in an open field for 5 years looked it over again today and danged if i didnt go under the floor pan has 1 minor rust hole in it it is an inch long by maybe a half inch wide that is caused buy the rain gutter rotting out then the roof right next to the winshield maybe the size of a number 2 pencil if that big. This is the worst of the rust the inside aside from that tid bit on the floor is rust free. The hood is pitted pretty bad so i will definantly need a new one. The truck from what the man said now is an all original numbers matching truck from wheels all the way up and front to back and yes xmas balls r included lol it will need a transmission cause of the passing gear not working and a fresh rebuild of the engine bummer he said why but i fergot. all the lights (i.e. bulbs behind lenses) are less than 2 yrs old and the truck ran 3 years ago. thats all i know as of right now

67_C30 was just wondering how you could tell it was a disk break set up i dont even know that and i have seen the truck a few time and looked it over two times.

If any one has a non broken lense for the right side tail light how much i dont care the condition as long as it ait broke. Un fortunantly it will be a back and fourth to work truck till i get some money saved up or get 1 hell of a raise.

Re: Opinions needed

The truck will be loaded and ready to move at 10 am tomorrow morning. If the underside is as good as im bettin. Old blue II pulled through and brought me 200.00 for her old bones no heart or trans or shoes i am getting the truck for 225.00 it took an olds 403 locked tight enough to bust a breaker bar, old blue II's bones, and a 350 block that slug a rod to get this truck and YES I WILL KEEP YA'LL UPDATED.

So lets hope the under side is as good as the top.

Thank you all for youre opinions and imputs on this truck. They was a major decision maker
