Who's using Hedman or Hedman Elite headers?

I have dynomax headers now. They have an oval port and leak against the vortec heads and nearly have to be remove just to change the shorty Accel plugs.

Considering these 69890s.

I know the regular Hedmans have a bad rep and for good reason, but the Elites are coated, with 3/8 flange and 14-ga primaries.

How is the spark plug access with these?

Regular hedmans have similar tube routing, just thinner.

Re: Who's using Hedman or Hedman Elite headers?

I think they are the exact same one then my Non Coated ones. I paid $130 a year ago, I love 'em. As far as your Gaskets, Go buy your self All Graphite gaskets. I bought mine at Car Quest for $28, they don't leek and Are re-usable.
And I also can use standard size plugs.

Regular Hedmans with no problems...only have one plug that is hard to get out...others are easy. I love the fit and no leaks at all.

Re: Who's using Hedman or Hedman Elite headers?

Maybe I must be the only one who had problems with my Hedmens. To me, they are "JUNK". Ask 70c10 about them. I bought them from Summit and then sent them off to Jet Hot. My mistake is that I didn't fit them on first. Anyway I ended up having to bet the hell out of a couple tubes, not to mention that 2 of the plugs are almost impossible to get to.

My son got the Elites, and within a year the coating starting coming off. Off course he drove his blazer back and forth to work. So, If you're not going to be putting miles on the Elites, the coating may last.

I've since bought a set of Hooker Comps that are coated. Haven't put them on yet. Hope that they work.

Re: Who's using Hedman or Hedman Elite headers?

I like mine. I was impressed that all the plugs were easy to get to. I can take out every one of my plugs with a ratchet and socket. The no. 6 plug wire is a different story though. Getting the wire boot on and off is kind of a booger and you don't want to attempt it while the headers are warm.

Hedman gives a 5-year warranty on the finish on the Elite brand. It has a thermal coating, but it's not ceramic coating.

Re: Who's using Hedman or Hedman Elite headers?

I've always had great luck with Hedmans. I've got them on my '69 C-30 car hauler and my 82 Z28. I've been usig them for years, on lost sof different cars and trucks, and they've always fit good and sealed up well.

What other kind of thermal coating is there?

Hedman site says: "The alloy of ceramic-metallic composition used by hedman, now known as HTC (Hi-Tech Coating), was and still is considered the very best thermal coating available for your hedders.

I assume the HTC is the same stuff on the Elite headers. You can get coated base headers or coated Elite headers.

Are they coated on the inside?

Re: Who's using Hedman or Hedman Elite headers?

They were coated inside as far as I could see. You can call Hedman direct and ask them the specifics.

Re: Who's using Hedman or Hedman Elite headers?

They are a good company.I`m sure not perfect, though.I had my TorqueSteps coated by a business that has done my electro-static coatings for 20 years. They give me good prices but, mostly,I know I get a top quality job.I don`t run the truck much, but it has been in the rain.I don`t take it 4-wheelin`,either.I see rust started on my collector area.I just wonder how much better this stuff really is.I just had them use the black for all the coats.Maybe the silver seals better.I need to ask him. But,he never gave me the impression it mattered.Just most people want the money to show with shiney headers.
