Look What I did with this Used $700 Engine

I Bought This Engine for $700 from a friend of mine, It came with a Holley 750 carb, used 1 5/8 headers and HEI ignition, 8.8mm Accel Wires. It was rebuild about 4 years ago but only has around 2500miles since rebuild. It is a 1970 350 4 bolt block with .25cc TRW dome pistons. The heads are some rare 67 327ci Corvette with big 2.02 intake valves. 64cc.I was told it should have around 11:1 It already had a CC 280H camshaft, so no upgrading was needed. After disassembling the engine two of the existing push rods where broken so I replaced them with 16 Chrome Molly ones. The existing Intake was a single plane Weiand which was robbing some bottom end power and was replaced with a new Dual plane Edelbrock. All new gaskets, Bolts and a couple of spray cans i think I gave this Wanna Be Hot rod engine what it deserves. All together it took me 12h of Labor total, a few more and I should be able to fire it up. i also spent an additional $340 on top of the 700.

Looks rebuilt! Didn`t you want to put roller-tip rockers on while you were replacing the pushrods?

It came with Stamped steel roller rockers. I changed out the freeze plugs thats why it looks New Rebuild. Tomorrow or in 8 hours haha, I will bolt up the oil pan with a new one piece rubber gasket set. they are so much better than cork.

Be when you careful tighten down the alternator bolt. I've seen many a double hump get cracked from people drilling a hole in the thin part of the casting like that. Make sure you put some permatex on the threads of the alternator bolt or it will leak coolant when it gets to running temperature.

Re: Look What I did with this Used $700 Engine

Do it while the weather is still nice, pull it out . Plan everything before hand. Make a list of everything you need to buy at the parts store. It will eliminate lots of trips to the parts store. I like to organize my work area before i even get started. I hate when I spend to much time looking for stuff then actual wrenching. A nice weekend and you can knock it out.

Re: Look What I did with this Used $700 Engine

I sold the engine to a friend that is serving in the army. It is going into a 71 Nova. He is still In the Dessert so it will be a few more month till it will be installed.
