Should I? Need opinions...
Well today at work, the guy that used to own the 83 I bought, told me he had a deal for me. A friend of his has an 85 GMC sierra wrangler( probably a dealer option). The guy had the timing chain let go a couple weeks ago, from what I am told. He wants 150$ for it and it's rough. I went to look at it after work and he wasn't kidding that it is rough. It has almost 200,000 miles on it.
It does have an OD tranny, but unsure if it was ever rebuilt. Seeing how I am building another truck, I figured I can use this truck for small parts that tend to nickel and dime you to death on a build, well those that are still good. I was also going to offer a guy at work 500$ for his 700r4 that was rebuild with the corvette servo and better clutches. Seeing how this truck has a OD tranny, should I use the tranny from the truck and rebuild it, or get the rebuilt 700r4 and keep the other tranny as a spare? Is it even worth getting that parts truck for 100$, cause I need a flex plate and brackets for the accessories and whatnot. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Re: Should I? Need opinions...
It depends on what you need. If it has a clean title you should be able to sell off the frame for scrap metal and get your money back.

Re: Should I? Need opinions...
I plan on keeping the vin and title for the project truck, since I will probably get a rust free cab from the US and probably cost me less if I don't need a vin. I already have my frame as some know, so my thought is keep the parts and junk the rest.
I don't even know what the rear ratio is either. Right now I have one that is around 3.08 and the other ratio on the 83 that I am going to put on the road is around a 2.73.

Re: Should I? Need opinions...
The Wrangler is a Canadian only package. If you need the small parts, $150 isn't that bad a deal. If you can swing it, I would use the 700R4 that is new and keep the one in the truck for a spare (since it works)

Re: Should I? Need opinions...
I am going to offer him 100$ for it. I will find out tomorrow at work what he said, since I am dealing through the guy we both know.
Also I am getting that rebuilt 700r4 for 550$. He is dropping it off tomorrow.
