I started thinkin' about these manifolds...

Does anyone know if these will clear? I thought when I bought them they would work better than straight drops but now I don't know - it looks like I might have a problem with the starter on the one side, and possibly clutch linkage on the other side - (I'm putting in a SM465).

Re: I started thinkin' about these manifolds...

Well you could gain some clearance with a smaller starter (mini starter)

Yeah, I might have to do that. It's kind of hard to tell, but should the other side clear the clutch linkage??

It looks like it`ll run down in front of the linkage.I don`t understand why these will be a problem since trucks came with these manifolds, one type of starter, and manual transmissions.
I have noticed that some year 2wd trucks have one straight and one curved manifold. The earlier ones have both curved.

Re: I started thinkin' about these manifolds...

I have them on my 71 with regular starter and have no problems. I can even change the starter without taking them loose.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Cool. I'm gonna find out soon enough. My '70 has this style as well and everything fits - it just looks like it's not gonna work on the engine stand, I guess.

Didn't 4spd have straight down rams? The engine sits back further? I think they still clear just fine.

Not on my '69.
The starter clearance is pretty tight but not touching. Here's some pics of a stock truck, pretty dark out-I hope these work.

Re: I started thinkin' about these manifolds...

My '67 283/SM465 truck has both angled manifolds. No issues here. Exhaust guy did comment it needed a pretty good angle put on the passenger side pipe. Right where it attaches to the manifold.
best of my knowledge its all stock.
