Re: bbc swap.. Need help.

I used the tubular engine towers that brothers sells, along with a tubular trans crossmember from 700r4 dot com. You can just scoot the stock cross member back if you want.

There's no mounting drama. Bolts right in/up, easy.

Where it gets to be a pain is with all the accessories, etc.

The stock 350 rad will have to go, you'll want to put in a 4 core HD radiator.

The swap is very straightforward.

Re: bbc swap.. Need help.

Pull a search on the topic.....I did it the hard way the first time....I'm doing it again here in the next couple weeks. I'm NOT gonna be afraid to bash my firewall this time...(I'll probably just cut holes in it and re-weld in some recessed pieces of sheet metal to look good/sound deadener. Should bolt right up...PM me in a week or so and we'll swap helpful hints...

Re: bbc swap.. Need help.

I have tryed the search option and have got no straight forward answers out of it.

I am not looking for answers about cooling and what not, i know all that.

I am asking about Getting the motor and tranny bolted up.

I would like to keep my trann mounted were it is, so i can use my driveshaft i have already. My main concern is the towers that the engine mounts mount to, are they the same between bbc and sbc?

Also do i just move the towers to the front two holes on the frame instead of the back to like my sbc is?

Thanks for the help so far, hopefull someone can give me afor sure answer on all this other stuff.

Re: bbc swap.. Need help.

The towers are different, they use the front set of holes. You can use the SBC mounts with washers from underneath. As far as the trans, I don't know...

Re: bbc swap.. Need help.

Just leave the tranny ALONE.....Bolt the engine to it.....mark any rub/hit areas on firewall......see how close the engine sets in place on existing motor mounts (might be real close).....Move engine mounts accordingly.

On FRANKENSTEIN...I used a cross member from an 80 chevy cause I didn't have the right one for a 69.....I also moved everything forward about 2 inches, changed all my driveshaft lengths.........ETC........

This time I'm gonna just stuff it in...mark what I have to move.....and be done with it.

DON'T BE AFRAID TO MAKE YOUR OWN ENGINE MOUNTS....
