WIW - 67-72 rolling chassis - 4 link, 4 wheel discs, Ford 9" rear

Just got in touch with a gent that is looking to get rid of some parts -

He happened to mention that he had a rolling chassis - here is the break down of the parts - can you let me know what this thing is worth - not saying yes or no yet - just asking for a price range - he told me $1000 for the whole thing...

Here is what he said...

"...rolling chassis with a Ford 9" (4.56 gears) 4-wheel disc brakes, 4-link rear suspension coil over spring and coil over spring front suspension with a rack and pinion steering set up..."

I asked more about the chassis and got this response from him...

"...In regards to the rolling chassis, it has some really good stuff, but it also has some out dated stuff also. The owner put the best of the best on it, except it is about 10 years old now. I know the rear end has Strange axles in them also. Also, the gear ratio is either a 4.56 or 5.10. The frame was sectioned just behind the cab and the Ford was put in a jig and all welded up and then that was welded to the existing front portion of the frame. It was professionally done and not by the owner. I know he paid big bucks for it. By looking at the rear section of the frame, it appears it will hold a box, but since he never had one, it will be hard to say if the body mounts have to be repositioned. The motor mounts are set for 454 big block and the tranny crossmember is for a 700R4..."

No pictures at this time - maybe over the weekend. (fingers crossed)

How can I tell if the rear frame section will accommodate a bed or not? I can't tell from the pix - can any of you?

I also can't tell if it is short bed or long bed from the angles - maybe the seller would know.

Thanks for the responses so far! I asked him about the cab - it needs a title - if he can get a MI title - I may have a chassis and a cab...

heres my two cents for what its worth:

what do you want to do with this? Do you plan on leaving it as is? start modifying it? bag it? If your gonna start changing things it might be cheaper and more practical for you to start with a stock frame.

Also, the work (particularly some of the welds) don't look "professional" to me. The whole rear setup does look "10 years old" like you said. Odd location for panhard bar, the 4 bars are really short. Not sure if this matters to you...

Oh, and to answer your question, sure, you can get a bed on there, but it will take a lot of modification. By looking at the pics, there is no way a bed will fit on there without cutting the floor for the notch OR raising the whole bed floor. If you can't do that yourself, your looking at mucho $$$

If it were me, I would start with a stock frame and do it the way I wanted.
