Unhappy Brake Lights

I was driving my truck tonight to the store. Well I looked in the rearview when I hit the brakes, well they worked but when I let off the brake they stayed on. So I raised the pedal with my foot and they went off. So what's up? How can I fix it?

Re: Brake Lights

Sounds like the spring's not returning the pedal all the way or the switch needs an adjustment. The switch is under the dash and is threaded where it goes through the column support. Just adjust it closer to the brake pedal arm.

Re: Brake Lights

I recently had the same problem on a 66 Plymouth. It turned out to be the master cylinder.
