New guy from southern Minnesota
I've posted a couple times already but thought I should backtrack and introduce myself. I'm Brent and I live in Mankato, Minnesota. My current project is a '72 Custom/10 SWB stepside. Original drivetrain was an L6 with a 4-speed. Sold the L6 a couple weekends ago to make room for a V8 (TBD) and recently picked up a 700R4 that will take the place of the 4-speed.
What started as a "simple" brake job to get an old beater back on the road has turned into a long-term project. The deeper I tore into it, the more problems I found. Then I decided that putting new parts on top of old parts wasn't a good thing, so now I've got everything behind the cab stripped off and in pieces. If the tools I need come in, I should have the rear end (12-bolt GM with Eaton posi and 3.73 gears, brand-new everything except the posi and axles) reassembled by next weekend. In addition to the '72, until recently I also had a '64 SWB fleetside and a '66 SWB stepside, both big-window trucks. Just wrapped up an unnecessarily bitter divorce and during that process sold the trucks to my dad for a critical "cash infusion" as bills mounted. Someday they may return to my fold, but in the meantime the '72 is consuming my meager time and resources. I'll start my own build thread one of these times and link it in my signature. In the meantime, there's a link to my photo gallery there already. Glad to be here on this site! Thanks in advance for all the help I'm sure to receive as I move ahead with this project. Brent

Re: New guy from southern Minnesota
I spend quite a bit of time in Sleepy Eye for work. (Among other things, I inspect the bars and restaurants over there.) Anyone else from the area on the board here? A guy can never have too many nearby contacts, especially out here in the non-metro part of Minnesota.
