1 ton dually 4x4 front end shake&wobble
I have a 79 dually 1 ton 4x4. The truck will wobble back and forth badly. I replaced the shocks and carrier bearing. Any suggestions on what else could be wrong to stop the shaking.

Re: 1 ton dually 4x4 front end shake&wobble
Its the infamous dana 60 death wobble you pretty much need to rebuild the front end some one else can tell you exactly what you need though. I'm pretty sure it has some thing to do with the knuckle deflecting or some something like that. from Missouri btw. Welcome to the one ton club I've got a 1983 as you can see in my sig. The 79 is my favorite year. My dad special ordered one new but sold it long before I was born. Btw so no one else gets the chance . Mods you might want to move this to the 4x4 section there are more guys with non stock 60s than stock so a better response could be had there.

Probably needs a kingpin rebuild at a minimum... You might want to tear it down and check their condition, see what's going on in there.

your king pins and possibly you lower knuckle barings are worn out. you can see in this pick how bad the lower bearings . the king pin bushings are plastic and crack and ware down you here is a pic of how warn mine were and how a grove cut in to the king pin.

You can see here the race for the lower bearing is pitted and ate up. and the bushing that tits on toop the spring is worn through. the spring is also worn down but you cant tell in a pic. I have mesured all this stuff and compaired it to new for a fax thread I need to finnish it up for every one and get it on the site.
