Question Question about wiper motors or switch???

I can't get the wipers on my truck to come on. When I turn on the switch (column mounted), I can hear the motor working and the wipers will move a little bit and then stop and start making a grinding sound. If I leave the switch on and get out and pull on the wiper arm a little bit, the blade will come all the way up and back down and then hang up again. Does this sound like a bad wiper motor or what? Any ideas? Thanks.

Re: Question about wiper motors or switch???

Most common thing to go out on these old trucks is the wiper motor.
However you may want to remove the cowel coer and take a look at the linkage to make sure it's still all good and tight especially where the linkage mounts to the motor. if any of it's worked it's way loose then tihten it all up and check it out.

Re: Question about wiper motors or switch???

could be the cog on the motor that has a stripped tooth or two too . pull the cowl and make sure it looks workable then go for the motor. you can disconnect the arm linkage and see if it works that way but it may need the load of the arms to fail
