Little dilema. GMC or Chevy?

Here is my truck as it sits when assembled.

Rear of truck= Chevy

Front of truck= GMC.

The PO put the GMC front end on the truck. It is actually a Chevy. Basically, is it tacky having a chevy rear end and a Gmc front end??? I wont have any GMC emblems on the front of the truck, but you know its a GMC front.

Just wanted some thoughts on that? I like the GMC front end, but should i make the tailgate in the rear a GMC????

Re: Little dilema. GMC or Chevy?

Tailgates are much cheaper than grills/front clip, you can even buy a blank one pretty cheap.

I like th e GMC frontend

I got my Chevrolet tailgate at Charlotte Autofair for $120.

Why is the C backwards???

Might look cool with no "GMC" on the front and a smooth tailgate. Just My 0.2

That what I was thinking too. If you want to smooth the hood, why not compliment that with a smooth tailgate?

It's not a stepper, but here's my favorite GMC for motivation....

Re: Little dilema. GMC or Chevy?

Lyriks, I think you should lose the letters and get a smooth or GMC gate.

N2, that's now my fav GMC too! I'm no GMC expert but it looks like it has Chevy fenders? and I like the hood layed back; not as far as 67-68 but more than 69-72

Re: Little dilema. GMC or Chevy?

Frizzle, the hood is definitely a 69-72 that's been modified. The 67-68 hoods cut in several inches near the front whereas the 69-72 hoods remain relatively the same width across the top from front to back. So it's a laid back 69-72 hood. Looks like it does have chevy fenders! The fender trim looks "different"?

Beautiful truck! I think it's cool the grill and rims match.

ok, back on topic

I'd say go for the smooth gate. I think is would set the truck off more.

Re: Little dilema. GMC or Chevy?

I have a GMC stepper tailgate. It in perfict condition and even has red primeron it. Look in further in this section and you can see the pictures of the gate.
I think the thread is: "GMC stepper tailagte". It's not my thread. I just TTT'd it. Take a look at it and give me a pm.

Re: Little dilema. GMC or Chevy?

I like your combination truck. I would fix the C and replace the front bumper with a GMC bumper so the Orange lights will shine better and just enjoy it. That is a nice looking tailgate and hood. Why not be different? Enjoy it.

I was wondering about my bumper. So thats not a GMC bumper....

I do have a new hood already. That one on there now has rust eaten away on the front.

Re: Little dilema. GMC or Chevy?

Mine is the opposite of yours. I have a 67 GMC that I put a 67 Chevy grill on but still have the GMC tailgate. Must people cant see both ends at the same time so I never thought much about it. Just think when you are running from the cops they are looking for a Chevy, when you get home back it in and it will be a GMC

Re: Little dilema. GMC or Chevy?

no thats a 69-72 chevy bumper I believe. but if you keep it, modify some fog`s in the light holes. and the smooth look is definatly a good idea.

Re: Little dilema. GMC or Chevy?

I thought GMC fender were all the same. The 67 is different obviously with no side marker lights, but 68-72 GMC fenders are the same as 68 Chevy fenders.

lyrikz, was the PO going for a Delorean type symbol with the C turned around?

Anyway, smooth or GMC tailgate is my vote also. If you don't want to buy a new bumper, you could make a ram-air setup out of the bumper holes.
