transmission speedo gear

I have a 74 chevy with a SM465 tranny, and my little plastic gear inside the transmission that spins the speedo cable is stripped out. does anyone know the part number for this gear? also, i have 32" tires and about a 3" lift. Will i need to get a different gear, or do i just have to deal with the 5 mph fluxuation?

Re: transmission speedo gear

There's some good links posted in this thread by LockDoc. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ht=speedo+gear

Try the search, there were others that came up, I just didn't read them all. I just deal with mine being off & hope I'm judging my speed about right. I'm usually pretty close.
