WIW 1972 GMC 40,000 original Miles?
I wasn't sure to ask it here or the parts board so if I am wrong I ask your humble forgiveness. Today driving through northern Ohio I saw a GMC truck sitting behind a garage. So I stopped to investigate. I met the owner and asked if the truck was for sale and he said yes. Now that he has an old 55 Oliver tractor he wants to restore he said it makes sense to sell the truck. This is a 1972 3/4 ton, 350 V8, Automatic, custom with an original 40,000 miles. The interior is very nice and the seat would support the milage on this truck. The glove box sticker reads Model CE25934 and the VIV # TCE242J507149. Bed is seems real solid except for service rust. Cab corners is real solid and the rockers need to be replaced. Otherwise this truck seems very solid. Joe is the second owner as this was his fathers truck. It is a LWB fleetside. So what would be a fair price for the owner and the seller. The owner seems very reasonable and realizes it's not a 1/2 ton fully loaded Chevy so the price will reflect it. Thanks for your info.

Hmmm...$3,000 or so???Low miles is awesome. But,it`s basically a driver at this point and to sweeten it up would still take alot more money.Agetakes over on miles at some point.

Re: WIW 1972 GMC 40,000 original Miles?
Thanks special-K...the reason I am asking is he is wanting to sell it but he wants to ask a fair price. Not to high and not to low. So if he asks if about $2000-2500 (the price he has in mind) it would be a fair asking price...for the seller and buyer? I want to get a little more feedback and then I will check with Joe. If he is ok with $2000-2500 then I will go to the parts section and put a fs post. It's refreshing to see a guy who just wants to sell for a fair price realizing it's not a Barrett Jackson special. What do I get out of this? I get the pleasure that another truck is rescued from potential neglect and and a slow death.

If it's as nice as you say, considering it's in Ohio, 2,500 seems fair.

To compare a list member just sold a great looking 70 GMC 1/2 ton with 50,000 miles for $6000. It did not appear to have rust and was a real nice truck.

Re: WIW 1972 GMC 40,000 original Miles?
This truck does have surface rust in the bed but it looks like it would clean up. I will check with Joe and tell him that $2000-2500 is a fair price and if he is ok I will pass this info on to anyone who has interest in his truck. Thanks for your feed back.

Re: WIW 1972 GMC 40,000 original Miles?
2500- 3000 sounds pretty good --- is it "patina'd out" or does it have potentially salvageable paint? just curious - probably not a huge factor on pricing. Hard to say too much without pics, but any less than $2500 and someone would likely have a super deal --- any more than 3500 and someone would have to want or need it a lot , but sometimes thats the way it goes -------- now that i sold my "shop truck" project, i am casually looking for something like that (only i am looking for the type of steal you dont usually get from an educated seller or board member)

I would offer 1800.00 and see where it goes.

I myself have no interest in this truck. I am helping Joe should he decide to sell it. If he does then I will pass on his info to any one who has interest. This hopefully will be a good deal to both buyer and seller.
