Interior difference question, and pic needed.

My burb started out as a 4 speed 4x4. Now it is an automatic with an electronic t-case. I'm wanting to install new carpet in it but I'm not sure what to get. How much of a rise does a 2WD automatic burb have in the floor over the tranny, if any? I'm assuming it's less than a 4x4? Does any one have any pics of the front floor area without any carpet in it? Thanks.

Re: Interior difference question, and pic needed.

If the hump is a bolt on, which it should be since it started life as a 4sp 4x4 its called a high hump floor. If for some reason the hump is unable to be unbolted its a low hump floor ( I dont think this is going to be the case). Most of our board vendors sell very nice molded carpet sets. Hook up with one of them, let em know what your running and they can set you up with the correct color and style for your ride.

Yes, it had the bolt on floor. I think I've decided to weld in a solid floor and order the 2wd carpet from Trim Parts. I'm hopeing someone can tell me how high the "low hump" is over the main floor area so I can get started on it. Thanks.

All my stuff right now is high hump so I cant help you with the height on low humps. Are you saying you are going to make your own carpet set, cut and sew and lay down etc etc?

Because the carpet kits Ive ordered are all molded to fit. Take out the old, clean up any gunk, lay down some sort of insulation and the carpet fits like a glove over this. Put your sill plates back on and waalaaa...like new

I've currently got carpet that I did myself but am going to switch to a
pre molded set. Getting a deal on the Trim Parts brand set that I can't pass up. Won't be here for about a week though so I'm hoping to be able to get the new floor piece done before hand.

Will do. I'm also installing a heater/a/c box out of a 92 chevy pickup and the 3 dash vents like an original A/C cab would have. No more blower fan or anything in the engine compartment. Should be a lot cleaner.

I think I would just cut the 2wd hump out and make it bolt in. trust me if you ever have to do any trans or transfer case work you will want that center to come out. it makes life a lot easier.

Re: Interior difference question, and pic needed.

Do you mean cut out the hump in the carpet? Right now I just have a big hole in the floor where the stock 4wd bolt in hump goes. I need to build a new "hump" in the floor. I think you may be right about making it a bolt on though. I'll have to check if I can get to all the t-case bolts from underneath or not. That will be the deciding factor.

I would cut a new cover out of the 2wd floor pan and make my own cover if I was going to use 2wd carpet. Its not fun trying to drop a trans and transfer case with out the removable cover its alot easier to lift it up through that hole.
