having one of those great days

seriously, it has been

found a 500 caddy motor, owner wanted $1500 for the complete running car. It's a cold miserable day, he mutters he just wants it out of his yard. I offer him $500 and any salvage money, after I to a few tests. DEAL

2nd. the first truck wreckers I go to I find a 14 bolt, corp full float, 3.73 posi rear end, complete drum to drum. It was just brought into the yard off a '98 chevy diesel. my '72 3/4 burb measure 52" from backing plate to plate. this one measures 52 1/2". had the burb with me, the yard owner had the same years ago, price $350 DEAL

now all I need is the tranny and the drive shaft, some instal and I have SUPERBURB!!

Re: having one of those great days

Just to confirm - a 1998 3/4T rear posi with drums is a drop-in for your burb?

I wonder if it'll fit on a 72 fleetside?

Re: having one of those great days

they'll fit with a little work. big decision now is staying coil, or changing to leaf. I'm thinking leaf is better, more stable for pulling a 7,000 lb trailer.

anyone out there with experience.

thx

Re: having one of those great days

I'd go leafs for heavy towing since you've got to modify the rearend anyway, although I must say I've some impressive loads on coil sprung 3/4 tons.
