need some subwoofer advise and pics
I am going to be putting a stereo in my truck this tommoro, and I need some advise and pics. I have already built the kick panels, and have welded a plate into the dash for the head unit (big, big hole previously). My question conserns subwoofer box options. I am going to be putting 2 12" subs, 2 8" subs, and possibly 2 10" subs in it (probably not going to do the 10's yet). I am going to remove the tank behind the seat for the sub box. I will have plenty of room for the 2 8's and 12's behind the seat but I wanted to see what you guy's have done for stereo installs. Thanks

Re: need some subwoofer advise and pics
Personally, ofnaman, I would not mix sizes (or types) of subwoofers. Pick a size and stick with it. If you want more midbass "punch", maybe put some 8's in your doors and run them as a part of a 3-way front stage with the speakers in your kickpanels. (I am assuming you are using components in your kicks) That would add a good bit of cost though.
Most people just do a 2-way component set (mid/tweet) in the kicks and subs behind the seat and are done with it. If done right, it will sound great. Just make sure that if you start adding lots of amplifier power, beef up your electrical system or you'll be wasting lots of cash. My $.02

Re: need some subwoofer advise and pics
Wow, 6 subs in that small cab!
Would you even notice the 10s with two 12s? That three 10s setup looks good! |

Re: need some subwoofer advise and pics
I do not think I will be running the 10's, I will be running the 2 8's and 12's though. I want the 12's for the deep bass and the 8's for the hit. I know it's a lot for a single cab, but I have all of the stuff and love stereo's (have had 2 competition trucks in the past). keep it coming, thanks

Re: need some subwoofer advise and pics
I would go with 2 8's & 2 12's. Maybe add 2 10's later....
Thats what you wanted to hear, right? I had an explanation of why not 12's in a standard cab, but it looks like you have your mind made up... |

Re: need some subwoofer advise and pics
I think the 10's give you the best of both worlds! I have had A couple of systems and have built several for friends (WOW I do have friends). I have built systems using 10's that would make your ears bleed. Quality speak's and AMP's with A LOT of POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I know why Im deff but why can I not spell ummm.

Re: need some subwoofer advise and pics
I would not try to squeeze 2 12's and 2 8's behind the seat. I would just build a box with 2 good 12's and an amp in the middle for behind the seat and then build a center console with an 8 or a couple 6x9 mids or something like that.
