Truck dies! Help
Hey guys got a few ? for you....
BTW 1969 C-10 350/350 combo and sounds like a mild cam.... 2.5 exahaust with glasspacks..... old but no money to replace yet.... My truck does not like to stay started... i mean this... i go out there and start the truck and have to rev it way up to keep it running.... when i let off it dies... doo this 3 or 4 more times and then it will stay running..... i then have to let it "warm up" before i can move it... if i try to move it too early it will dies when put into gear..... i just changed the hose to the vacume modulator on the tranny..... also after i have been driving for a few mins when i come to a stop at a light or something and then try to accelerate again it will bog down or stall for a second before picking up..... on a few occasions it has died completely..... i just installed a vacume reserve canister to see if that works but will not know till tomorrow..... any help would be great thanks! __________________

You have oil in it and good oil pressure? Check for vac leaks around the carb.

Did this start once it cooled off?It sounds like you got no choke.

1. Take the air cleaner off the truck and open the choke wide open (use a screw driver if you have too to hold the choke open).
Be careful to not over rev the engine 2. Check the fuel filter (both inline if one exist) and the tank. I would replace them because sometimes they can get clogged. 3. Check the vacuum lines around the carb. 4. I HATE MANUAL CHOKE CARBS

electric choke.... adjusted and made sure i had 12v at ignition and i did... still did it today!

Did this start suddenly? If not, you might start with a tune up. '72armyswbtruck said check the fuel filters and I agree. My truck just gave me some grief and that's what it was. I would also make sure your ignition system is up to snuff. I have been surprised many times at what a faulty ignition system can do. Checked your timing lately? How are the points?
