need some advice...again!
i have mostly everthing disconnected in order to pull the motor. I want to pull the motor and saginaw three speed together. I have two questions:
1. Has anyone pulled both the motor and trans all in one shot before? is it safe to remove this way? 2. Does the drive shaft slip out from the trans when pulling the motor forward or will I need to disconect th U joints? (see pics) Thanks so much for all of your help.... first time removing motor...obviously! |

Yep....the tranny will just pull right out away from the drive shaft and I almost always pull the engine and trans together. Never a problem. Keep in mine that you might lose tranny fluid when pulling....

Re: need some advice...again!
Yes it's very easy to pull it out as one unit. With the dog house off I would defnitely pull the engine and tranny together. The driveshaft will slip out, but you won't get it back together that way. I would unbolt the back u-joint from the differrential. It's only four small bolts or 2 u-bolts depending on your set-up, either way it's super easy to unbolt the rear of the driveshaft from the differential.
