Moving Motors
I need a little advice about moving complete motors. I’m getting ready to move and I have to BB motors I need to take with me. Short of putting the motors upright on a tire or creating them up I have no idea, the move is going to be approx. 400 miles and I just want them to arrive safely. Any ideas or advice you guys can give me would be appreciated.

Go drive behind Kmart or a warehouse and get some wooden palettes... they work great for transporting motors cuz you can strap the motor down tight and it won't roll around.
Put the palette in the truck bed and back it up under the hanging motor... drop the motor down, secure it to the palette, then secure the palette so it doesn't slide around in the bed and you're good to go. ------------------ '72 short step, 350, 700R4, tilt, ps, pdb, a/c, lowered coils, etc., other work in progress... could do it like some of the crate motors and stand the engine up on a pallet with back of mototr facign down and screw it down to the pallet through bellhousing holes, plywood over pallet, something similar

Take some scrap 2+10 pine, cut two pieces a little longer than your engine, cut two more a little wider than your engine, nail or screw them on edge together creating the roman numeral II, with the boards running lenthwise resting on the oil pan to block bolts. This is with no flywheel/trans attached. You can also get fancy and attach casters for moving it around on the garage floor. Works for me!

I Put wood and blocks under the front of the pan,make sure its wider,than i usually wedge blocks under the oil filters,then i use straps,might even throw a tire inbeetween one.
