How much is a 72 2wd blazer worth?
Im looking at a 72 2wd blazer. I was wondering what these go for in various conditions. This one is not a CST, but is all stock. It has a 307 and does run. Has a double walled top, has power steering, forgot to ask about a/c, has power brakes. What does something like that run?

Tell us about the body condition, how bad is the rust?

Re: How much is a 72 2wd blazer worth?
I scored a 72 2wd Blazer in 2005 for $1200, sold it in 2006 when I scored a 71 2wd Jimmy to
another board member here. I gave more for the Jimmy but it was nicer & had a nose job

Re: How much is a 72 2wd blazer worth?
Its mainly the usual rust, rockers etc. I havent seen it in person yet, only goin by pictures, but he says its not too bad but it will need some work. I was just wondering where to start on the price.

Re: How much is a 72 2wd blazer worth?
It is really hard to tell without pictures. They are generally around 25-50% more expensive than a 4wd in similar condition (if it is a factory 2wd). If it is a conversion, I wouldn't pay more than a 4wd (unless it is near show condition.)

Re: How much is a 72 2wd blazer worth?
As with any of these trucks, condition will determine the value. I'd pay more for a non-running blazer with a better body with less rust than I would for a rusty runner. I have learned this the hard way, time and time again...

Re: How much is a 72 2wd blazer worth?
If he won't tell you what he wants, low ball him. Nothing brings the desired price to surface quicker than a low ball offer. Tell him you don't want to hurt his feeling, but will he take $xxx.xx
With out pics it's hard to give areall value. If you decide to pass, then post a link so we can check it out.

Re: How much is a 72 2wd blazer worth?
Here's a good example of the current market- 1972 2 wheel drive blazer for sale, 307/turbo350, truck has some rust issues, but is worth fixin, has the double walled top, no interior to speak of.$1800.00 will trade for a 67 thru 72 SWB 4x4 or another blazer.

Re: How much is a 72 2wd blazer worth?
Haha thats real funny cause thats the guy im talking to. Except I already know he will take quite a bit lower than that. Problem is he doenst know how to send pictures in email. I have a feelin though that the body is gonna be almost non-salvageable. He did say the frame and suspension is really good though. If I could get him down to say around 1k, would that be worth it just for the 2wd frame alone?

Re: How much is a 72 2wd blazer worth?
Yah i know pics would be nice, but like i said he doesnt know how to send em in an email. But ive talked to him a lot, i think im gonna get it. Im kind of worried about the rust, but I can fix some of it and what i cant fix i have several friends that can. But even if i scrap the tub and go buy a 4x4 tub in better shape, isnt a running, driving 2wd blazer frame worth more than 1500 bucks?

Re: How much is a 72 2wd blazer worth?
As far as frame value about a year ago a Texas member bought a frame from a member in Minnesota and I think that one was $400. I would consider $400 to be a pretty decent deal though.
Being a Florida truck I would be a bit concerned about rust. You should see if there is a member in the area who can stop by and check it out for you. I was going to buy a Blazer based on pictures out of California and a member stopped by and checked it out for me and ended up saving me a huge headache.

Tell him to mail you pics or have someone help. You already know that most owners descriptions of a "little rust" is bogus. The "truck has some rust issues, but is worth fixin" statement would set me on guard right away.

Re: How much is a 72 2wd blazer worth?
#1--must be an origianl 2wd or forget it, #2--the frame is critical and unique so a lot of the "value" is there, #3--the body is critical especially the floor, windshield frame, rear quarters and rear floor-----if there is significant rust there, be real careful.
Finally, if it is loaded with options, just buy it and you can probably part it for a lot more then it costs you. I know where 3 original 2wd are sitting for years but in each case, the rust has taken it's toll to the point of YUCKO!! At some point I may try to buy for the parts but it's really a marginal return. I did see a really nice RED original 2WD at the Street Rod Nationals in Louisville this summer for sale. A straight, rust free CST with decent restoration---$15,000. |

I agree, he could send pictures through regular mail and you would have them in a few days. I know it is tough to wait for something once you have the desire for it but you'll be better off if you have the chance to see pictures (at least). Keep in mind, pictures can be deceiving! The best thing would be to go see it in person... and crawl all over it. Usually on a blazer, the rust you see is the least of your worries... I've flown to see cars before and I was glad I spent the money. I know the 2wd blazer are low production number vehicles. But I see these for sale almost all the time. This one may not be the best one for you, another one will come along if you don't get this one. Good luck, Rg

Re: How much is a 72 2wd blazer worth?
Come buy mine. It has rust, but nothing that can't be fixed. It is a NM truck so the rust is only in the front of the rear quarters, the floors are solid. If this guy isn't willing or able to send picts (even if by snail mail as others have posted), I'd pass FL is a long ways to go only to find out it is a heap!

Where is this Blazer at? I went and looked at one in Jacksonville, Fl that the guy was asking 1800 and couldn't email pics. If it happens to be the same one i could maybe help describe it better.

Re: How much is a 72 2wd blazer worth?
Man, I almost bought it. I didn't because I'm starting flight school tomorrow, I have a 6 week old son, and I convinced my wife to let me sell my daily driver to get a dd blazer.
The good The front end, hood, fenders, grill, etc look very nice, a little surface rust. The suspension, springs, trailing arms, etc, are pretty rust free. The engine starts right up and doesn't smoke, runs, drives, (I almost drove it 4 hours home) The bad Rockers panels are gone, front floors are pretty bad, doors lower half is full of holes, The fender behind the door is pretty rusted from the door to the rear tire, The windshield frames is pretty rusty. double wall top looks fine, hatch is cracked and the hinges are coming apart. Tailgate is rusty and has bondo coming off. There are a set of bucket seats sitting on a big wooden frame that covers most of the front floor and nothing is bolted down. I REALLY wanted to drive it home. I think the body could be saved by someone that is more talented then myself. The owner knows a lot about these trucks and seemed like a stand up guy. He offered to send me pics through the mail and offered to deliver it the 4 hrs to my house for 150. I hope this helps because it's the first thing I have contributed to this site unless asking a lot of questions counts. |

Re: How much is a 72 2wd blazer worth?
Yah man that is exactly what i wanted to know. Thanks a ton. Yah the guy seemed really straightforward, pretty much told me about everything you said. I just think, like you, that maybe someone else could save it, but it would be too much work for me. Again thanks a lot

Re: How much is a 72 2wd blazer worth?
It wasn't green when I looked at it, it was tan and I don't think it had ac. The owner bought it from ST. Augustine very recently. When I went to look at it the ad for this truck from 2 owners ago was still there. If you run a search you might be able to find the older ad as well. This owner couldn't have owned it more then a few months.
