Frame Swap advice needed
I have a 76 stepside 4x4 with a (SURPRISE SURPRISE!!!) cracked frame by the steering box. The POS PO tried to fix it and did much more harm than good. Now I need advice and help making this decision. What I am trying to figure out now is, is it worth pulling everything off the frame and swapping onto a new frame that i've already found? Or would I be better off taking the lift and stuff off and putting it under another truck with a blown motor or something that I can get for cheap?
I have never had to do a swap like this before and I honestly have no idea on the difficulty of this task but can only assume it wont be easy. |

Re: Frame Swap advice needed
ive done a swap of a cab and bed and its not all that hard but frankly i think id take the lift and motor out of your truck and swap em into a better truck and either part out the one you have or put it together as a scrap truck and sell it whole for parts

Re: Frame Swap advice needed
This would be your best option especially if your body is really rotted and needs a lot of work. If you need a body and a frame you're going to be starting from scratch anyway, so I'd just look for a better truck, pull the parts that you want to keep off of the 76, put the stock springs etc. back on the 76, and sell it as a parts truck. It would be a lot easier, and you'd be way ahead and a whole lot happier in the long run. ...Joe
