Went to the track at thunder valley in noble oklahoma and ran a best of 11.51at 113.65 mph with a 1.605 60ft. they told me to slow it down being i don't have a cage. I believe it should run faster with some more tuning. Don't know if i want to put a cage in it or not. What do you guys think?

In the 72 GMC: 15.8@89 or so. No traction and the TPI dies on the top end.

What rear suspension and tires do you have to be pulling those kind of 60' times?

In the 68 Chevy, I'm planning on drag racing it and should be in the high 11s to low 12s

That won't do you any good, won't pass tech. Once you've gone fast it's REALLY hard to slow down and run slower.

unless you want to race it a lot at the track and you dont drive it on the street much at all then i would say no to a rollcage and tune it again and just run to the 1/8 to get your 60' and 1/8th time then coast the rest of the way then on the next run roll out of the starting line and trip the timer, wait a second and then run all out and see what your mph is and combine the 2 and hopefully not get thrown out lol

my best with my 71 lwb was 60'- 1.550, 1/8- 8.55, 1/4- 13.9 at 91mph

my 71 swb im building as we speak with a big block im hoping to be low 11's high 10's and that one i'll cage once i can afford to

It's a 431 big block with groden billet aluminum racing rods, wiseco pro series pistons, total seal nos ss rings, comp custom roller .272/.282 with .680 lift, gen. 5 square port heads ported and bowl blended, dart single plane intake port matched to heads. Dynod 684 to flywheel. Nitrous ready but not spraying. Have a wilsons turbo 400 with trans brake and reverse manual pattern shifter. 3800 stall converter. Aluminum driveshaft with 1350 u joints. The rearend is the truck 12bolt with 33 spline moser axels with full spool, converted to 5lug. Stock trailering arms, lowered 4in in back with new springs. shock relocaters with kyb shocks, i need drag shocks. 16 in centerlines with hoosier 16/28/14.5 qtp had to make wheel wells a little bit wider for the slicks.

NICE truck! what gears are you running? something like what im building right now. Run it again, or go to an outlaw track! your truck looks nice!!! speed is awesome you'll probly end up putting a cage in it!!

Nice truck, with that spool I'm just guessing you don't drive it a whole lot on the street...I'd go cage.

373 gears, going through the lights at 6000 rpm. Making peak hp at 6800so that's telling me that i could probably benefit with 4.10's. Also it kind of felt to me that it was spinning off the line, but all my buddy's were saying that it wasn't. So i'm thinking that my rims are spinning inside the tires. Need some screws in the rims. The headers are hedman, primaries are to small, but can't find any to fit our trucks with 2" primaries, no modifications. Had a set of hookers and one of the primaries swung into my 7qt oil pan because they are universal. Hooker rep. told me to get new oil pan. So i went with hedman.

I drive it on the street a little bit. But my aluminum rods scare me more than my spool. Have a friend that drives his on the street alot for the last 4yrs and has had no problem.

Wow - "Dynod 684 to flywheel" is that on the spray? how much spray you gona use? that would make sense if you didnt spray and only got 113mph in the 1/4 but that seems slow for 684hp unless its just the weight and im use to Fbodies? Do you plan on spraying cause keeping the 3.73 gears for spray would probably be wise then

69trk, I managed a 12.08 @79 mph after you left last night. It hooked hard, pulled a 1.52 60' and ran 6.95 1/8th mile then it broke the tires loose at the 1000' mark. Track seemed a little greasy,maybe because the temps were low. Looking forward to running mine again after some tuning. I believe it's got a mid 10 in it

I haven't weighed the truck yet, but i talked to another guy that had a big block shortbed with all the chrome and everything in it including ac and he said his weighed 4600 lbs. I'm thinking that mine might weigh close to that. I figured that it should run better also but i guess that you can only push a heavy brick so fast. I still haven't played with jetting or timing yet. If i do spray nitrous i will have to get a cage first.

Wow seeing this made me think of the good old days racing my old truck.

Best for me was a 1.24 60' time on a 5.32 sec 131.6 mph 1/8 mile pass.
On a TINY tuneup I ran it in the 1/4 once and went 9.28 @144 pass. The next pass I turned the fogger on and went .4 quicker and 10 mph faster through the 1/8 but let out due to a leak and coasted through at 9.25 @ 107 letting off at 1/2 track. I do wish I would have run it out the 1/4 before selling it. That old truck was really run though.

Well like in my sig, ran a 10.77@124 with a 1.56 60', I ran 3 1.52 60's in a row once with better air but was bracket racing and had to let off at the end each time. They felt like really good runs and I'm sure would have put me in the 10.6's. Doing some major changes this spring, just collecting parts this winter, putting it in the low 10's at the NHRA track and hoping for at least a 9.99 at the outlaw track.

It made 636.5hp at 6250rpm, and 617.6flbs. at 4750rpm. It avg. 585.12flb and 586.92hp from 4250-6500rpm. This was with a too small 750 carb, not sure what it's putting out in the truck. I'm now running a 850 using a 150 shot of nitrous but by the amout I'm using per run it's more like 100-125 going off NOS charts. Those runs in the video were made at 3975DA' truck weighs 4373 with me in it.
