Re: old field and stream

Ain't it weird how we go looking for ad for our trucks only to find that they're not nearly as common as the truck ads since the late '80's? I loved looking at the old National Geographics that my history teacher (not an Abigail Beecher, for sure) had in her classroom when I was 13. I learned about U.S. Royal tires that had a squeegee action....and they came in a brown rubber instead of black. Why is that significant? Because we moved right after that and a neighbor had a '50 Buick that had a set of them.

So we have to look at Field and Stream, Mechanics Illustrated, Popular Science, etc., to find ads for trucks. When my ex-father-in-law gave me a handfull of Motor Age, Motor World and Hub magazines from '16, '17, '18 and '19, I went through them with all of the enthusiasm of a kid with a new toy. Trucks from that age are neat....and they weren't Fords or Chevies, either.

But it's still neat to look at them, and find something that makes us feel as giddy as a schoolgirl with a new boyfriend.

Nice find.
