Re: Old dash pad removal ???
My 68 had a total of 6 screws, usually the 2 on the very ends are missed, they are pretty tough to get to.

Re: Old dash pad removal ???
...then you have to almost pull the dash cluster and inner glovebox because they have nuts on the underside(3/8 i believe), and I believe there's about 6 of those, too. They are kind of a pain in the butt to change, but once you get all of the outside and inside ones out, it might be kind of hard to move, usually you just have to push up on it and it breaks lose. hope this helps

Re: Old dash pad removal ???
I ended up pulling the dash bezel assy and the glove box liner to find the nuts on the ends of the pad, I'm not a skinny guy with long arms so a little extra dissasembally made my job easyer..

Re: Old dash pad removal ???
Careful tightening down the new one.If you don't do it evenly it will have "waves" and if you don't get it tight enough it will rattle.

Re: Old dash pad removal ???
I was able to get the one behind the cluster without pulling it, but the glovebox had to come out for me.

Re: Old dash pad removal ???
As Premium 72 posted take your time and you will get them all out and your dash will still be in tact. It's not easy when you get to the very outer end nuts but slow and steady wins the race.
esll. ![]() I never took the gauge cluster out.

Re: Old dash pad removal ???
I removed the front screws, started working on the studs and when I go tthe first one off I saw that the nut wasn't really a nut. Its a little peice of tin/aluminum shaped like a nut. From there I stuck a screwdriver under the pad and pried up those little tin nuts stripped like bubbles down at the "gentleman's club". I asked about it earlier and a number of people said when they replaced theirs all they did was put the front screws back in and didn't mess with the "nuts".
Probably not the best method but my pad was shot anyway...
