72 K5 wing windows and bright parts. Buy new or rechrome?

Greetings Earthlings..

I'm 80% done with rebuilding a 72 K5 that I bought in horrible shape. So bad that it was 50-50 whether to save or scrap. My friends thought I was nuts.

I am at the point where the side window glass and wing windows need to be replaced. I have the original wing windows but they have some surface rust.

Parts companies like Brother's Trucks and Mane's have factory replacement wing windows for $150-180 a piece. I have the originals still.

I have never done this before so I seek experienced folks here. Does it make more sense to sand and rechrome (or powder coat) the wing windows I have or buy new ones?

One more thing. This truck is being rebuilt to drive and have fun with. Not to show. Nothing I do has to be mint, showroom or original.

The goal is a fun, functional truck.

I took some light sanding paper to mine and knocked off the surface rust, then taped the rubber and glass off and hit them with black spray paint and they turned out looking great.

Mine were not the chrome framed ones if that matters.

With the poor fit of replacement parts I would be leary to buy replacement wing windows unless you got verification from a boardmember that the replacements are worth buying.

I bought repops for my 72 and they fit fine. Thats a whole lot less hassle and probably cheaper than re-doing them.
