New shifter?

Is there a place to buy a new gear shifter for the SM465 4 speed tranny? Mine is VERY worn out and I have found little info on repairing it. The very bottom "snout" wobbles badly, giving the shifter several inches of slop when in gear. Thanks!
Colby.

Re: New shifter?

Have you removed the shifter to inspect it?

I don't know about this specific transmission, but most have a soft bushing to eliminate wear on the hard parts. When it wears out, gives the slop you mentioned.

Just my $0.02

Re: New shifter?

I have removed it, most tranny's I've worked on have a solid, one piece shifter. This one has a snout that fits into the bottom of the shifter stem, and it flops all around. It looks like it should have a bushing or something inside of it but I don't know. Any thoughts?

Re: New shifter?

Thanks for the replies!
I have seen the Pirate4x4 info before, but it doesn't talk about the problem I'm experiencing. I'm gonna check with a tranny shop and see if they are familiar with this, and I might check some wrecking yards for a better shifter.
