Post How much does my truck weigh?

Hey, just real quick, I was formulating an engine combination with another fellow, and we came to the inevitable question of wieght, and I found myself wondering how much my truck weighs. 1970 half-ton, 2 wheel drive, long fleetside, v-8, I think that is all thats relevant. If anyone has any info on this, I would appreciate it. Also, if I were to put on a front crossmember/brake setup off of a 71 onto it, are they heavier or lighter that the drum front? thanks

Your truck weighs in the area of 4,000 lbs empty, depending on trans set up, weight of grease & mud accumulated and or rust dropped off. Of course that doesn't include fuel, weather it's power steering, air, etc. accessories can add significant weight--just try carrying an A/C compressor around for a while!! Also this does not include the weight of the driver which in my case can be significant depending on time of day and most recent ~~~~well you get the idea!

71 swb step 3420 to 3640 dependign on same, these weights are as standard equipment, IE 6 cyl 3 speed no options, thats how they are lsited by GM, they dont tell you extra weight of options on this old of vehicles, only std curb weights
