tranny swap?

what is needed to swap an s10 5 speed into a 68 with a small block. the truck has a 3 speed on the floor now.

does anyone recomend doing this. or should i just find an old 4 speed ?

I am putting a sm465 in my '67 with a 350. It's easier for now and when I get more serious I'll put something else in.
