What is a mini spool?

That's what Im looking at.

From what I can tell, it locks the axles together. But can anyone give me any more info on these? What's the difference between a mini spool and a regular? Are they streetable? Probably not. Ive always wondered...

They serve the same function as a spool (i dont really know why 2 versions are made)

but you are right, they are not very streetable

a mini spool takes the place of the spider gears in your differential. A spool take s the place of the whole differential carrier that your ring gear is bolted to. The spool replaces the differential locking the axle shafts together so they spin at the same speed. Unlike a locker or limited slip that unlocks the spool is permanently locked. Being streetable depends on what vehicle it is, what kind of roads you're driving and what kind of driving you're doing. I've drivin trucks with spools through town but never on a long trip before. They work great when you need lots of traction, like off roading or at the drag track. If you drive it everyday on the road you'll go through tires faster and it won't be friendly to your fuel mileage because you'll be dragging a tire every time you turn.
