That's what I will be using as well, the 50. In our trucks I can't see using more than 50 unless you do the roof too?

I will be doing this in a couple of weeks, maybe I will post progress pics to see how far 50sf goes in these cabs.

this stuff is quite a bit cheaper than dynamat.

I used FatMat and it will require a little more than 50 square feet if you do the inside of the doors and the entire cab. (the rear window-down back wall-across floor-up firewall-behind dash to just under the front windshield).

I purchased the 100 square foot package off ebay only because they didn't offer a 75 sq. ft. package. That would be just about perfect.

Goes on easy with a heat gun / hair dryer. Do yourself a favor and buy some art poster board and make patterns for the goofy shaped areas under the dash. It's kinda difficult to trim the stuff when you laying on your back upside down under that dash.

I'm actually using 2 layers ... 1st layer is FatMat (sound) and then on tope of that I am using the foil backed jute-type padding (for heat/cold). Here's a pic that shows the FatMat on the floor, but also shows the foil backed jute padding on the firewall.

I installed 100 sq feet in mine. (floor, firewall, inside both sides of doors, back of cab). It's not on the road yet. Most noticeable improvement so far is the doors now close with a "thud" rather than a hollow bang.

I chose FATMAT because cost per square foot (it's cheaper than most) and regarding sound deadening, it's comparable to most.

Only drawback to FATMAT is in super hot areas (e.g. summertime southern parking lots with the windows rolled up) the adhesive isn't as good (will come loose) as with the top shelf stuff. Since my truck is either garaged or I'm driving it with the windows down, the temp restriction is a non-issue and the cost per sq ft. (about $1 per sq ft in a 100 sqft roll) becomes the major factor.

Application was real simple. Went well. Took me about 6 or 8 hours in total. The plastic roller that came with the big roll worked fine until it snapped. I ended up using the butt of a screwdriver in order to ensure every inch was pressed firmly against the metal.

OK, so this guy is saying to go to Lowes or Home Depot and use 'peel and seal' products instead of FATMAT/Dynomat original etc asphalt based products for cost savings. Humm.

The peel and seal products are rated to 158* like the FATMAT.

I don't know, I think a small area test for me is in order.

That wasn't me,
I just got a picture of the weinermobile until I take one of my truck... I was with IAFF246, in Bakersfield, until I promoted out... retire next month.

I just did my truck today. I bought the 50ft & some for the doors. Used 1 sheet of the door material to finish the cab (pretty much a 2nd layer over the trans hump).

Shane yours looks awesome! I wish I could of gotten way up the firewall like yours but with Vintage A/C and all the wires mounted there was no way.... pretty much level across, right under the steering column.

The good thing is that the guy before me had it all undercoated so it was real easy to clean and no rust etc... Too bad he didn't do this while he had the cab off and all apart.

Well tomorrow I do the doors. Look forward to hearing the difference.

I picked up 3 rolls (4' x 6') at the NSRA Nationals in Loo-E-ville about 2-3 years ago ... I know LMC carries it and I'm pretty sure some of the vendors here can get you the same stuff. It's actually more of a pain in the butt to do than the FatMat stuff due to having to use the spray adhesive (3M Super 77).

Thanks about the blazer - About arroyo's, it's a small local shop and not the one from boyds. They do great work though.

My truck has a black undercoating sprayed in the cab, not as thick as the bedliner stuff. It didn't help deaden sound though and with just the carpet it was a tin can.
I kept my expectations low and am really pleased with the sound deadener. The exhaust, at about 1200rpm, would vibrate everything. Now I hear some outside the cab but inside I can hold a conversation (until the wind noise from the wingvents starts whistling, next project...).
It's kind of a tar substance so I don't think the spray on liner would work for vibration.

My carpet doesn't go up as high as the fatman stuff. I don't think you can paint that aluminum material. Any suggestions?

I put several layers of the stuff on my burb roof and didn't notice any difference. If I knock on the non-"peel-n-seal" area and then on the "peel-n-seal" area it's hard to tell the difference.

The stuff isn't easy to get off either. I say don't waste your time. Buy some real sound deadener.

Spray in bedliner inside the cab for sound dampening.....I'd say NO. But under the cab as an undercoating...a big thumbs UP! I just shot a 68' Camaro underbody and wheel wells...came out great. Cab underbody ahs got to be clean....or foget it.

I used DynaMat Xtreme in my 71' but am going to try Second Skin Damplifier Pro on Project OverKill.

i have the do-it-yourself version of rhinolining (Herculiner) on my floor. no help with sound. My truck has lots of road noise and ots of vibrations
