Re: Anybody able to id this engine?

No I'm not able to see at rear of block to ck number and I don't have any num on front of the block on the passenger side. I have take a picture of the front of the block between block and water pump. The front of the block is not straight. And the oil filler neck don't pass true the intake manifold. Check this pictures!

Re: Anybody able to id this engine?

That is most definitely NOT a Chevy engine. It is some sort of GM engine (it has an HEI distributor in the back), but I have no idea what it is. Probably some type of Buick, Olds, or Pontiac engine (I believe Caddys has a front-mounted distributor).

Re: Anybody able to id this engine?

Not a chevy v-8. Maybe olds or pontiac, buick. Looks like a big block maybe with the spark plug spacing. Or are all the other gm v-8's plugs spaced like a big block?

Thats an OLDSmobubble. FOR SURE. The oil filler and water neck give that away. So does everything else about it. What is it in?

Re: Anybody able to id this engine?

Its a mid to late 70's Olds 260, 350, or possibly 403 judging by the GM Corporate Blue paint. The only I know absolutely without a doubt is it is an Olds engine.

Re: Anybody able to id this engine?

My nephew had an '80 diesel Chevy, and pulled that engine (Olds based) and replaced it with an Olds V-8.

What truck are you looking at. I haven't seen anything in any comments about what it is. Is it possible that it was originally a GM diesel? Knowing what you're looking at may help you know why the engine that's in it, is there. Another clue may be a second battery mount that doesn't have a battery....etc.

I wholeheartedly agree that it's an Olds engine.

Re: Anybody able to id this engine?

The truck is a 67-72. You can tell by the heater box and master cylinder!

Re: Anybody able to id this engine?

Woddbridge have the right answer after decoding the casting number it's a 557752 3b block=Olds 350 from 77-80 year. Badly I'm looking for a chevy 350 not olds, parts appear to be difficult to found if you compare to Chevy. The truck is a 1967 long stepside fluo green!! Thank's for your research.

Re: Anybody able to id this engine?

I didn't have much time to fill in the post after I found the casting # on the site I linked. It is most definately an olds engine and the casting number ID's it as a 77-80 350.

2A '75-'81 260 Solid main webs for 2A's only? At least for '76.
2B ??-'81 260 557751 Windowed main webs. Windowed main webs for 2B's only?
3A '79 350
3B '77-'80 350 557752

Re: Anybody able to id this engine?

I've seen a couple of them in 6 7-72 trucks before. A junk yard near me had a real clean pick up and when I lifted the hood, there sat an olds motor. I've seen one other also.

Re: Anybody able to id this engine?

The K-2500 in my avitar had a 455 in when I bought it. Normally, these are killer motors but this one ran like a dog and always hot. A 400 small block now resides under the hood and runs much better.
