Will this cab fit

Hi Y'all. I bought a 1972 4x4 1/2 ton pick with the idea of replaceing the rusted parts on the cab. Well I found a cab that is 100% rust free for 300 dollars but i'm not sure if this cab will fit my truck.
The donor cab is a 1968 mines a 1972. Both are sticks but the donor isn't a 4x4.

Thanks Bill

Re: Will this cab fit

The cab should fit if it was a factory manual transmission cab. You should be able to swap the bolted in hump out of the 4x4 on the 68 cab, and go. Good deal if you found a cab that was rust free for $300. They mount up the same in all the years but if you have a 2wd cab that doesn't have the higher center hump in it, it would not fit, thus requiring you to cut out that section like in the 4x4 and bolting the hump in there. Sounds to me though you should be good to go. Trevor

You may have to adapt the emergency brake pedal into the 68 cab. '68 had the lever I believe. I think the heat ducts might also be different but not sure. Just ascetics that's all.

Re: Will this cab fit

sounds like a good deal, yes the cab will work. I bolted my cab to my k/10 frame with no problems. I wanted the high hump so I cut out the low one and bolted in the high on. I would do the swap if I were you

Re: Will this cab fit

The cab will fit, just use your old mounts. If the truck it came from was a big block (In most or all of them),or had a 4spd it'll have a bolt in high hump.If not,the floor will be one piece.I used a 2wd cab from a truck with a TH350 and needed to cut the floor out..You really don't need to cut the floor out as there is room, but you might as well and make it look right. If you don't cut the floor you'll just need holes in it for the shifter(s).Although, since you said the donor cab was from a manual truck, you should be fine if the cab was original to it.It will have the bolt in high hump.Just swap out the center hump and be done.
Here's my cab after I took the torch to the floor..

Pedal-activated emergency brakes came out in '69, so you're right. It may be easier to put the earlier style in the later cab, but you wil just have to do the eye-ballin' yourself and make the "executive" decision needed.

Re: Will this cab fit

Thanks Guys. I did notice that the donor truck had the arm type emergency brake. So I was going to pass on it, but then I thought about it and the cab is so clean I just can't pass it up, it doesn’t even have body damage anywhere.

I priced all the parts I needed to fix my cab and it came out around 280 dollars from Tri-Pro, the bad part is the shipping charges puts it over the 430 dollar mark.

So a clean cab with a title all windows are good, and both doors are perfect the only draw back is the brake lever.

I’ll be honest with y’all. I can't weld worth a hoot and all the panels I need to weld into place could turn this project into a nightmare. Let’s say I can’t deal with the swapping of the emergency brake I can always sell the cab.

Willie

Re: Will this cab fit

What's the deal with the gas pedal ? do I need to swap out my pedal from the 72 into the other truck or do I need to cut the cab up.

Re: Will this cab fit

I think you're off to a good start. Take your time and do it exactly how you want. With the cab off you can get everything exactly the way you want it. I don't think you should sweat over the parking brake thing, that's so minor.
