Re: Kick panel air vents??

You can't get them out of the kick panels or you can't get the gasket out of the vent itself?

To get them out of the kickpanels pull down on the upper pin that goes into the kick panel. It's on a sping. Once you slide it down enough it will come out of the hole and you can then pull it back and the bottom end just pulls out.

Re: Kick panel air vents??

Thanks 67chevy, yeah I did not know how to remove the whole thing, I am assuming after removal the gasket scapes off? or with mine just falls to dust. Any ideas on this? thanks for the help, Mike......

Re: Kick panel air vents??

Smoked68, the vent panels are in 2 parts rivited together you need to drill the rivits out and remove the rubber seals. Installation is just the reverse. I used small pop rivits to secure the two panels together with the gasket sandwiched in between.

Re: Kick panel air vents??

You're welcome

Forgot I had a pic of this (in case anyone else was wondering too or my wording is confusing )

Just pull down on the top pin.

And obviously, also remove the two screws that hold the open/close arm thingy to the kick panel, or you can undo the clip thingy on the vent itself. Yeah, I know a lot of technical terms

Again thanks 67 chevy, a picture is worth a thousand words. I am in your debt, I had already looked at it, standing on my head though everything looked upside down. Thanks for the help. Mike.....

If you wanted to replace the rivets with correct size and shape, anybody know the sizes? Jeff.

Re: Kick panel air vents??

Open both vents, roll down your windows, hit 75 mph on the highway, instantly clean vents. I recommend wearing eye protection and keep your mouth closed
