Question 70 chevy c-10 wih wiring problems ?'s

I have a 70 chevy 1/2 ton, we got it about a week ago and the previous owner had gobbed up the wiring on it. I took all wiring off the truck and cleaned it up. my question is with the instrument panel on it. when i turn on my ignition my temp gauge pegs to the cold side hard, also on the switch has 7 points for connection. the double point that the red battery wire connects to the one is for the battery continuous hot. the other ? and the other that takes two brown wires the other ? if someone could help me out with one and tell me colors pictures anything to help get it running right.

Re: 70 chevy c-10 wih wiring problems ?'s

If the engine is cold, or if the temp sender lead (green wire) is unplugged, then it should peg out on the cold side.
As for the ignition switch, search this site for the FAQ's or the stick, there is an excellent colored wire diagram for the 67-72 series. But going from memory, red is always hot, pink is hot in acc or run, and brown is hot in run only (& maybe start).
