this two pic from my truck a 70 c-10. the pics are where the wiring harness crosses the top of the firewall. There is mostly surface rust but there are some rust thruough in various places all across the top and bends.

You could use the starter kit from por-15, it has all the stuff ya need and its only $26.00+/-. Small kit for a small area to prove its worth to you.
