Spring Coils for a 71 C-10
Hi to all, I have been pretty busy with honey do's but I'm pretty much caught up now. I started replacing my front suspension on my 71 C-10, I found one of my coil springs to be broken so my question is do you guys know where is the best place to buy replacement coil springs? I have bought my ball joints and tierods from Oreilys but they don't have coil springs.
Thanks, Julio

Either a board vendor or scan the parts board. I do not think they are still available through a dealer, but I could be wrong there.

Remember, the front coil springs on these trucks interchange all the way up through 1987. They should be able to catalog a newer truck to find you some.

I just looked at Carlos' member page it says he hasn't been on since....Last Activity: 08-16-2007 08:33 PM. Anyway, look in the yellow pages under auto springs, or automotive springs, or springs, auto. Should list some spring companys in the Houston area. LockDoc

Re: Spring Coils for a 71 C-10
You should be able to find a set if good used springs pretty easily. With everyone lowering or baggin' their trucks these days, there are a lot of spare coil springs around. Either that or check some of the board vendors for new ones. If you weren't planning on it already, you will probably want to buy a pair. Springs settle out over time and depending on how old they are, how hard they have been worked, etc. they settle differently. If you only replace one, your truck might lean a little.

Your O Reilly guy is a complete wank. The front springs for GM trucks from 63-87 interchange.
Tell the O reilly clown you want a pair of Moog part number 6452 springs. They cost 80.99 and no shipping.

Thanks, I'll do that. I should have known better, I asked that Idiot for the lower control arm camber kit and he said that on these trucks you can't replace the lower camber kit because they don't make those parts anymore.

I just looked up the Oreilys web page and it shows the moog #6452 to be for 73 to 95 gm trucks. Do you think it would make a difference?

Re: Spring Coils for a 71 C-10
I guess the clown's viewpoint is that "they" don't build 72-models anymore, so there are no more parts available.
I tried to work with people when I was laid off from my long-term job and went to work for Auto Shack (pre Auto Zone). I loved trying to find a way to help someone and didn't mind perusing the parts books for that elusive tidbit. You need to find a parts person who will work with you, if you (like me) are going to keep fooling with this old crap. In these days, anyone who can pass a drug test and show up for work, can become a parts person. I've seen girls who know their stuff and guys who don't know "sic 'em from c'mere". I get tired of all the rhetoric that they go through and the questions that I get asked that have nothing to do with the part I need. But, their computer screen does the talking, right?

You Can Contact Early Classics, Or You Can Search This Board For A Member Called Uncle. I Have Had Great Success With Uncle When It Comes To Buying Used Parts!!!!
