Seat Covers

Getting ready to reupholster . Got new seat covers. Checked the FAQ post for installing seat covers, and it shows bottom seat frame with holes in it to hook hog rings. My seat frame does'nt have these holes. I had these seats covered about 4 years ago and the top part of seat still has original cover underneath, but bottom of seat was resewn and recovered. This was an upholstery shop that done this so I have no way of seeing how original was installed. Any help would be appreciated. This is a '68 C-10 and I am trying to get it put back together after 2 yrs of working on it off and on. I hope this post makes sense because my brother and I are really getting aggravated with all these minor little problems we're having.

I'm not ready yet to replace my seats-shoot I'd be happy if I could find a bench seat cover that was a fabric solid color and *didn't* have a deer emblem on it!!

Bench, the covers are the black scroll type. Just can't figure out how to fit them unless I drill holes in seat frame.

I put a cover on long time ago, but can't remember? Does it fold around the face and hog ring up to the front of the springs? Is there that much fabric?

They don't have enough fabric for doing that. The covers I took off looks like the shop sewed in some extra fabric. Still doesn't make any sense why seat frame has no holes for hog rings.

This is what mine looked like before I took it apart and then the new cover on. I installed my new one back the same way. Keep in mine that you need the metal rods that go inside the edges of your new cover. The hog rings attach to those rods and then onto the framing and side springs. Hope it's helps.

Did your bottom seat frame have holes in it to atttach hog rings to. I can't figure out how it attaches without these holes. Your seat frame looks like mine.

As I remember, they were not holes, but e-long gated slots about 1/2" that ran along the frame. The rings clamped unto those. I wished I would have taken a picture of the frame after removing the old material......

Mine doesn't have any kind of holes. It will in a little while though.

Dave- don't forget to paint your seat tracks while the cover is off and don't forget to add a piece of material between the bottom and back springs and the foams!. The friction will cause the foam to wear out faster that's why they used to use burlap in there. Any type of tweed or material will work fine.

Hey Dave, how hard was it to do?

Was it expensive? I'm going to need to redo my seats at some point as well.

Any pix?
