In need of emission system help for my 76 GMC
Im kinda dealing with a tuffy of a problem with the emission system on my 76 GMC. The problem is im not sure exactly what all i need to pass the peekaboo test in the County i live in here in PA. The county of Fayette, is one of 42 that dont require you to pass an emissions test. You just have to pass the visual anti-tampering check test, before they will slap that sticker on. I got My 1976 GMC Sierra back in 1998, came factory with an I6, and a 3 on the tree. I tore it all apart that year to do a ground up resto, because there was just to much rust to mention. I since then replaced the motor with a 350sbc, TH350, a painless wiring kit, did the frame, got a better bed that i just tore back apart due to rust, and im redoing the crappy job some schmuck done on my rockers and cab corners, I-NO

Re: In need of emission system help for my 76 GMC
You got a shortbed, right, is it a 1/2-ton or a 3/4-ton? Halftons are considered light-duty and therefore got tons of emissions BS, not so much the case with the heavy-duty trucks such as the Big 10s and the 3/4-tons and 1-tons.

Re: In need of emission system help for my 76 GMC
Yeah man its a 1/2-ton, shortbed basicly a hinds 57 mix, titled as a 76, 76 frame and vin plate, 86 cab with a 73-87 painless wiring kit, 79 bed, 84 350sbc, not sure what the TH350's out of. I havent really kept up with all the emissions laws because around town here, there used to be a bunch of those lickem and stickem inspection guys around. But there far and few in between thiese days, either got busted or just went out of buisness. So now i feel like im a day late and a dollar short. I just figured id get an idea of just what exactly was on a 76 so i dont start throwing more stuff in there than i need. I dont believe that i need an air pump on it, or maybe i do

Re: In need of emission system help for my 76 GMC
i had a 76 chevy longbed half ton that came bone stock about five years back.. and it had NO emmissions stuff at all , not even a catalyctic and it passed emmissions in NJ from the state, which is also a visual inspection
if you have any doubts why not askat the inspection station
