What did you get done? 11/11

I worked this weekend so I couldn't get much done. I took my family to watch the Texas Region 17-5A Volleyball Finals. One of our local teams won, and they heading to the State Championship finals next week.

Today I washed my drivers since they had been sucking up construction dust all week. Our neighborhood has grown so much they are expanding roads and the construction has dust and dirt everywhere.

I went to Auto Zone and picked up a gallon of antifreeze, and a chrome fuel pump block off plate for my 77 (impulse buy). I put the water pump back on the 77 and fired it up. I got the water leak fixed only to discover I have an exhaust leak.

It's leaking where the flange meets the exhaust pipe. Unfortunately I got the exhaust too hot filling the radiator to be able to fix the exhaust leak. I called it a day and took my daughter to go work out.

What did you get done?

Re: What did you get done? 11/11

Me and bowtieogre went junkyardin' on Saturday. I ended up getting a complete serpetine setup off a 91 burb earlier in the week, I did get one of those nifty retractable underhood lights off an 89 blazer, that made the trip worth it to me. After that we went to his house and dropped his truck. We started with the rear flip kit, that went fine, it got a little late, I had to get home, so I left him to finish putting on the rear ubolt nuts and the front. I'll let him chime in about that...things never go as planned. His truck is pretty nice, I really like the color, it's in good shape. Spent today relocating some relays so I could mount my new underhood light...but did not get done, need to make a little plate to mount it to, "wallspace" is at a premium under my hood.

No truck progress...but something much much more important happened. I became a first time father this week! little Genevieve was born on Tuesday November 6th, 9 pounds 15 onces, 22 inches long, and a full head of hair! I was told by many this is an experience that will change your life forever...and boy was that sure true! I am soo happy, as is my wife Michelle...we have enjoyed every minute thus far and look forward to everything that our life holds with this precious little girl!

She's Beautiful!! - Congrats!

I got the motor pulled out of the lowrider last weekend. This weekend I started prepping it to put into the Camaro. (Pics coming)

Called Louisville to check on the progress of the BBC that is going back in the lowrider this winter. Stock 427 4 bolt bored .060, 4.500 stroke; rotating assy going in. Gonna use the 700R4 from the lowrider on it or buy a t-400. I like the OD option of the 700R4 though.

Re: What did you get done? 11/11

I got to work on the 79 1 ton I bought on Saturday. I took the seat out, tore out all the carpet, and assessed the rust damage to the floor. I have a feeling you should not be able to see large patches of ground through the floor???? I also pulled out the cassette tape deck some PO had installed along with 6 speakers, of which only 1 worked. I gave the whole truck a good cleaning, it REALLY needed it. Overall, I got a lot done in only a couple of hours.

Congratulations on the new addition. Cleaned up around the house, took the '72 out for a spin before the weather eventually turns bad. Tomorrow's a Veteran's Day, so I'll fly the flag and work in the lawn if the rain holds off.

Re: What did you get done? 11/11

Well, Thursday I got my truck on the road and plated. Been driving it since and haven't touched my car.

I solved my problem of not being able to fill the fuel tank at any more than a snails pace. Now I can go full tilt when filling.

Got my headlights aimed better then they were, before it would light up the road 10ft in front of you, so useless at night. Now they are much better.

I also brought a spare fan shroud over the the father in law's place cause his truck is now going to be a summer truck/show truck, and his was previously cut for a wrong rad.

Re: What did you get done? 11/11

congrats on the beautiful baby girl!

this week we were suppoused to start replacing rockers and cab corners on my truck but due to the weather ( brr its cold) we didnt. I used the truck one day for work, and it did ok but i discovered a couple more things that need to be addressed. Yesterday i felt like caca so we hung around and didnt do much today i drove to southern jersey and met up with Dave (crossy) and we did our deal with some new parts. I scored a fender and the ac parts as well as the gas doors for my bed
tomorrow while i await my electrician to do his thing on the job i got running, Ill throw in the plugs hopefully and install the gas doors.
I have to do a little work to the fender to get it on the truck and ill prolly start that tomorrow in the house
we will see what the rest of the week brings

Re: What did you get done? 11/11

Congrats BB73 !! I just laid down in bed with my 2 year old son and he started rubbing my head like I do to him to get him to go to sleep and I realized how blessed I am. Your life from here on out will never be the same and you'll never trade the days to come for anything!

I lowered the '80 with a flip kit and coils. I was going to do spindles and coils BUT thanks to LMC I have the wrongs spindles and god knows what they were meant for. My HD bearings wouldnt fit (inside too big, outside too small) so I hit the parts store thinking I would have to switch over to LD rotors and bearings...no dice. They didnt have anything that fit the drop spindles. So until I get some replacement spindles Im riding with cut coils.

Big thanks to pcmcobra for taking part of his Saturday to help me do the flip kit!!

How much drop did the coils give you? looks like quite abit.

I dropped the engine back out of my trans am and mounted the coils, plumbed the fuel rails, and put the Kooks headers on the engine. Should be ready to fire up next week.

Re: What did you get done? 11/11

I was going to swap the bumper off of the burb on to the truck, but I found out that the brackets don't match at all so I still have no bumper. I have some headers that I bought from a local guy that said they were for a truck but come to find out they are for a 55-57 Chevy. I am going to see if they fit in the burb and if not then I will sell them. They are Hooker Super Competition so i would like for them to fit.

Re: What did you get done? 11/11

I got some done... not as much as I wanted though.... wired in a stereo for my friend in his 69 c-20, replaced his driver door (was literally falling off) and did some more primering. On my truck, I tore the entire interior out, minus the dash, and cleaned, removed rust, relocated my stereo, laid down dynamat, and managed to lose the bolts to my seat ..... I also did something Ive been wanting to do for a long time and that was to eliminate the seconary fuel tank from the system. The reason being that the PO decided it would be better to eliminate that nice little switch on the dash, for an electric fuel pump that was setup on a T fitting so it would draw from both tanks. So I took the liberty and unhooked the secondary tank, drained the fuel, and dumped it in my main tank. Good to go.

Heres some pics of where my stereo is now, along with the dynamat. Most of you guys that dont like cutting the dash probably wont like this, but before you judge, know that the only parts of the dash cut, was the dash pad overlay, the underdash is still clean.

You will probably notice that I am standing in the back of my truck, which would normally be impossible unless I.....

Removed the canopy!!!!

I never liked canopies, and I thought that laveing it on would be a good idea for the winter, but I couldnt stand it anymore, so its gone.

I am probably one of the few if not the only that has the stereo mounted where it is.... its a great place if you dont want to cut your under dash, and will work on any dash, since they all should have the cut out for the AC vent, you just have to take it a bit farther.

*Gives thread back*

Weekend is pretty much covered in the 'transfer case is out' thread. Add to that the cracked windshield has been removed.

Gave my header bolts another crank.

Not much other than that. Just tearing around town, enjoying the sound of the glass packs bolted to the headers while I still got them. They get old real quick on the highway, but cruising around town, they are THE sound to have.

I got the car washed and spent about 2 hours washing and waxing the motorcycle...didnt really do anything to the truck besides added some much needed powersteering fluid...I think the pump is on the way out its making noise when you turn the wheel even when the damn thing is full. just one more thing.

Nothing on the truck yet, still stagnating on that one... but I did install a Hurst shifter, "carbon fiber look" console, and shift knob in the Corvette:
