Re: Grille thread!
Ebay has lots of different kinds. I bought this one on there. It's powdercoated and polished aluminum. Not too bad. I had to secure my blinkers in there myself, but there was a plate for it. I searched for 87, but you can search a particular year.

Re: Grille thread!
Check out the special edition grills that LMC just came out with. They are on the cover of the catalog. Kinda pricey but very good looking.
There's also the stock replacement 73-80 grills they sell that have no logo. Anyone got a pic of one of these actually on a truck ? Quite a bit cheaper for a black or silver painted one for about $40. They have a chrome one that costs more as well. |

It's the motor from the fan, you can only see it in that pic.

Re: Grille thread!
I am having a hard time finding a stock grille for my 75 with a 454 logo on it --- they make them plain, but with the 350 or 454 motor id's on them

Re: Grille thread!
I considered the Phantom style before I bought mine. I have seen a couple running around here. They do look sharp, but I just couldn't see how you could easily clean the headlights with that in place.
A couple times a year, we get outbreaks of things we call Love Bugs. Nasty black bugs that seem to float around coupled up their whole life cycle which usually lasts from a couple weeks to a month. The only natural enemy these bugs have is the automobile. They flat wreck havoc on windshields and headlights and they can easily destroy a paint job and often do. These beings are what held me back from the Phantoms. My original was still in fair shape, but had a few of the small bars craked on one end. Old plastic. I think I paid about $100 for the grill in mine. It is made of solid extrusions. The back is powder coated black and the front is semi-rounded and polished nicely. Love bugs wipe off it pretty well.

Re: Grille thread!
I use those medical q-tips to clean my headlights, yea its a pain during LB season, but heh... I love the way it looks, if nothing else, its 3 screws to uninstall it, and clean headlights, but I only do that if Im cleaning the front of the radiator thoroughly as well

Re: Grille thread!
I know what you mean Pyrotechnic, I have like 4 different GMC grilles I have picked up at different swap meets. The one installed in my truck is repaired, I have one grille I have cut up to make a couple good ones, using some plastic expoy to glue them back together. I just can't seem to find the right color spray paint to match the original.
