My 82 C-30
Here is a pic of my 82 C-30. I picked it up for 1,000. It was a roofers truck and the body was in terrible shape, the fenders were busted, brakes brakes were shot, and there were plenty of electrical gremlins. I wihs I had a before pic. Over the past year, I have put new brakes on her all the way around, new suspension, tie rods, universal joints, dual exhaust, new grille, window and vent felts, all new light lenses, fender trim, the wheel simlulators, a DIY spray in bedliner, a fairly (junkyard find)new rear bumper, radio and some speakers. I also replaced the starter, gear box, the power steering pump and all the belts. I had never really done any body work, but I learned alot about fiberglass and bondo. This was my first paint job. I am fairly happy with the way it has turned out. I did the inside of the truck as well and redid the dash and door panels in tan. I painted it baby blue, I'll try to get some more updated pics that show the color better. I got my running boards on today, mirror tented the back window and got one exhaust tip on. Will try to finish it up this weekend. Last edited by 1982 C30; 11-17-2007 at 10:30 PM. |

Re: My 82 C-30
It is a baby blue color. I am going to give the pics another try tomorrow when I finish getting everything put back on. Hopefully I can get some that will show the color better.

Re: My 82 C-30
Nice truck there TexasJeff. I am from Suffolk, Va (Southeastern part of the state). I had an issue with one of my universal joints that we installed this evening (the rear one) that I discovered when I left my buddies. Will have to work on that in the morning and figure out whats up. My boat is waiting patiently. I will get up some more pics Sunday evening. I tinted the driver and pasenger side windows today.

Re: My 82 C-30
Thanks Everyone. I have one of those 2 piece drive shafts. I replaced all three univesal joints the other day. My stupidness allowed me to intall the rear universal backwards so the frease fittiing was facing the rear axle. That is what caused my problem. A small edge of the grease fitting was keeping the yoke from seating all the way. Got that fixed last night. What a difference 1/16 of an inch makes!

Re: My 82 C-30
when i did the u joints on my 86 about two years ago, it had the original u joints in it.. My buddy in the auto parts store didnt press in the center joint right so it was off and created a bad vibration so i had to swap it out again .. i had him do that cause he had to press in the center bearing too .. the fun part of the job was sitting there with the propane torch melting the plastic that held the original u joints in watching it pop out of the hole in the yoke like them snakes in a candy can
