Roll-down rear glass?
Maybe a dumb idea and ahelluvalotta work but I know my family's old station wagon had rear glass that retracted into the tailgate and I've seen it on Bronco's...
would this be adapatable to our pickups? I guess you'd need to make slider tracks up the sides of the window openings in the cab and figure out a way to attach the window lift. It might effect the structural strength of the cab too. Greg

I like that thought! That does not appear to be a dumb idea. You would probably need someone with e-fab's talent to attach the
structure/window run supports and the gas tank might be an issue. It would not be a total suprise that someone has already done what you are talking about, (maybe not on our year trucks). Jim |

They already make them. It's an aftermarket kit called the "Breezer". I'm not sure they fit on our trucks.

looks like 73-87 is as far back as they go - not sure either how well I'd like having to store a solid piece of glass all the time - I guess thats what the storage bag is for but where are ya going to store it that it wouldn't block your stereo or need a bed cover? I guess you just use it on sunny days and leave it a home or put it in the bed and if you stop somewhere put it in the front seat or just put it back in
I'd like a motorized-track type system better - less hassle that way. If you stop somewhere, just roll it up.

I have seen the Blazer back glass used in a pickup... I'm not sure on the details. I'm sure a mid 80's Blazer or Jimmy electric glass setup would work after some re-tooling. it was a custom job so they may have had to fabricate everything.

They didn't make em for our trucks becuse of the gas tank location. They didn't think enough people would be willing to relocate the tank to make it worth the investment.
