They had some dealer installed ones around but good luck finding one, you're better off making one.

Re: Reciever hitch for a 72 blazer? anyone?

I've got a hidden hitch on mine (I saw you didn't want one) what they don't tell you in the ad is that you have to take the extra bracket that 4wd drives have that support the rear spring perch. I removed mine and then drilled the hitch, bored out a piece of screw stock the correct length and got a longer bolt to tie the whole assembly in. Turned out very clean.

Re: Reciever hitch for a 72 blazer? anyone?

Stock Receiver Hitch? Not that I am aware of.

As noted, the '72 frames are different. I had a "universal" hitch installed on mine by a hitch shop in '89. The brackets are made and are 2 1/2" so that the 2" cross bar with the receiver on it it can slide on them. It allows for any width, then holes are drilled in the frame to mount it. He also welded an additional 1/2" by 1 1/2" brace from the side of the hitch brackets to the side of the frame.

The easiest thing to do is get a step bumper and bolt a receiver to it. Or just deal with the Hidden Hitch. I have a '72 Burb receiver hitch, any idea if the frames are the same? I'll try and use it on the new-to-me wrecked '72 Jimmy I just picked up if they are!

Did you have to remove the gas tank to get access to bolt the hitch on?

Would it work with the factory gas tank skid plate?

Would it still work with the shorter '69-'71 Blazer frame?

Mine was made by a previous owner. It's coming off eventually so maybe someone will want it. I never plan on pulling anything so I don't need it.

Re: Reciever hitch for a 72 blazer? anyone?

I had a Hidden Hitch on my 72 C10. I never had a problem with it, and it's not really hidden, just more of a name. FWIW, the hitch is now on my '69 4X4, with no problems.

ECE makes one, not sure how it fits, or if it's a hidden unit or not hidden

Re: Reciever hitch for a 72 blazer? anyone?

On my 70 1/2 ton, i used a reciever from a 73 blazer that fit quite nicely. The reciever is right below the lic. plate with a sport bumper.

I'll try to get some pics of it tomorrow if it stops raining and I get home before dark. Mine is the ECE one and you can't see it from the back or sides, the stinger comes out where the license plate is. The plate is on a bracket that allows it to fold down. If you needed a big drop stinger you'd have to flip the bracket over, which I will have to do when I get some time.

I didn't have to remove the tank but getting to the nuts wasn't easy, but with patients it can be done.

I don't think so, I didn't try to put mine back on yet. I think for it to work you would have to sandwich the skid plate between the hitch and the frame. Even if you did this I can't say, I do plan later trying to make mine work

I can't answer that one, maybe someone else can.

I Think Mine Is Home Made But It Works Well. It Takes Place Of The Center Bumper Brackets And It Looks Factory

Re: Reciever hitch for a 72 blazer? anyone?

I searched for a long time and ECE is the only company currently making one for 69-72 K5s. I put one on mine late last year but have yet to use it. Yes it is "hidden", almost completely concealed by the bumper and license plate.

Mine looks very similar and mounts just like raggedjim's and is sitting on the floor of my garage. PM me if you're interested in it. I don't intend to put it back on. It was on the truck when I got it. Cleared the gas tank skidplate with no issues.

That's about what I'm looking for, between that and the drawtite, I should make something work. I found a free one in Up State NY.

Towrig, Do you have any pics of your exhaust? I like the way it exits. I don't know how it bends around the gas tank
