Special Promotional???
72Levi brought something up to me today. On my SPID there is an option called "Special Promotional", I don't know what that means. I'm sure someone on here can tell me. It's on my 72 CST 4x4 by the way.

Re: Special Promotional???
That code is for the Highlander package, sometimes found on the SPID as "Special Promotional". It should also have a plaid seat. This pic was from awhile back on another post.

Re: Special Promotional???
THANKS! I don't really know much about the Highlander package. I need to look into it a little more.

Re: Special Promotional???
that's pretty cool. if i'm not mistaken just because it had the highlnder package didn't mean it had to have those seats. I could be wrong.

Re: Special Promotional???
my understanding is there were three levels of highlander. The basic level only had the seats. Someone posted a thread with what was included in all three levels a while back.

That's the thread with the three highlander packages. I don't know what the "special promotional" is vs. highlander.

What sort of door pannels should it have had? Woodgrain or scroll, or either?

Re: Special Promotional???
Since you have the Cheyenne "CST" Highlander K5 package, I do believe you would have the woodgrain panels like mine. 99% positive

Re: Special Promotional???
Wouldn't it have the woodgrain dash and side trim too? Do you have AC?

You are correct on the woodgrain side trim if it is a CST, but again original CST blazer's never had woodgrain dashes/glove door's as OE from the factory, that was only a cheyenne super & sierra grande deal. Cb Last edited by Classic Bowties; 02-23-2010 at 12:41 AM. |

Re: Special Promotional???
All three highlander levels or groups A, B & C had the highlander plaid trim standard, that is what made the highlander stand out from the all the other GM truck model's. Cb

Re: Special Promotional???
I appreciate all the input guys. Rather than put 5 quotes up here and try to answer all of them, I will just give some general info on my Blazer. First off, it has been repainted (back to original color) and apparently had a few things changed from stock when I got it. Currently it has chrome bumpers, chrome transfer case shifter, CST badges, A/C, and woodgrain on the outside trim. Inside however, I do not see any wood grain. Also, the rear seat which appeared to be the original has the plain white scroll pattern, no plaid. the factory front seats where long gone before I purchased it
I really wish I could read more of this, I would like to have it reproduced for one day when I repaint/restore the K5. Also, here is a pic of my current door panels and glove box showing the lack of woodgrain. Who knows what the PO changed. Thanks again guys!

Re: Special Promotional???
Highlanders are the special promo pkg,A,B,&C.The Highlander "did" come with the woodgrain lower beltline mouldings, yet no tailgate band. They were the exception to the rule. All had parchment interiors w/one of the four plaid cloth inserts.Your door panels aren`t original, not CST.I think your glovebox door is what`s not original.I can`t read the VIN,can you?The CustomDeluxes (trucks) came with chrome shifters.Do you have bright work around you windows? If yes, maybe the door panels were changed to standard.

Re: Special Promotional???
Here you go,this might help, these all came from 72 blazer labels. I can't make out the trim code, it looks like 1xx010. Can you see the 2nd and 3rd letters on the original? No way to know for sure (unless you have tinted glass) but most of these that had AC also had tinted glass, thats why I added A11.

Re: Special Promotional???
Yeah, they go through changes over time. That Texas sun can eat up a door panel. It ate up the woodgrain on your tailgate trim. All tailgate bands had vinyl woodgrain.Only woodgrain equipped trucks had the band, except the Highlander truck whick only had lower beltline w/g.Same with your rear seat. It`s prolly not original to the truck.Looks like it spent alot of time topless since it had a soft top on it.

I have one last question though. Maybe I missed it somewhere, but which Highlander Package should I consider this to be? A,B, or C? Or is it too hard to tell with the non-original pieces that are there?

Re: Special Promotional???
Based on the options your label shows I would say C. Sometimes they listed it with A B or C on the label, yours doesn't show it though.
